You can gain access to this Substory during Getting Ready for Goku, after you learn that Goku is going to be joining the World Tournament. As soon as you step out of Capsule Corp, you should see Trunks standing right off to the side. He is bored and wants someone to play with him, so Gohan offers to do so. He wants to go somewhere where he can go wild with fighting, so Gohan says he’ll take him to where Piccolo trained him. Of course, being a small kid with a lot of excitement, Trunks runs off on his own, so chase after him by travelling to the Central Plains Area. When you get there, you will have to do a battle with him. Trunks, as a kid, is not much different than his Future self from earlier in the game. He still has access to both Burning Attack and Dive-Bomb Slash Kick, and it seems he inherited Consecutive Energy Blast from his father. Overall, he’s not a tough opponent, so he should go down rather quickly. Once you win over Trunks, you will complete this substory.
