How to Unlock the Kart Life Challenge¶

Kart Life is a Challenge in Saints Row that will unlock after you complete the mission [Drawing Heat]. The Kart Life Challenge tasks you with completing three objectives:

• Kill 10 enemies with a Shifty Kart.
• Sideswipe 30 vehicles with a go-kart.
• In a go-kart continuously drive in oncoming traffic (for 45 seconds).

How to Find a Shifty Kart in Saints Row¶

Before you can start causing mischief with a go-kart, you need to acquire one. Like a few other Challenges, you’ll be introduced to the Shifty go-kart during a JimRobs carjacking event. Unlike most of these JimRobs vehicles, however, the go-kart will spawn even if you haven’t completed the carjacking event. Just head over to a derelict go-kart track along the southwestern end of the El Dorado district and enter a green-roofed warehouse near the race track, where you’ll find some go-karts parked. Just grab one and return to JimRob’s garage to save it for future use. This is a vehicle that will benefit greatly from being upgraded, but it’s not strictly necessary.

How to Complete the Kart Life Challenge¶

Once you have your (ideally upgraded) Shifty go-kart, you can start working on the objectives for Kart Life, which include three relatively common vehicle feats. The easiest is driving into oncoming traffic for 45 seconds. This must be done continuously, but the go-kart is slow-moving and small, making it easy to thread the needle between two lanes of oncoming traffic. Just find a straight, two-lane road, like the central bridge spanning Lake Sebastian, and you’re gold.

The other two objectives - “Kill 10 enemies with a Shifty Kart” and “Sideswipe 30 vehicles with a go-kart” are related, as destroying a vehicle by ramming it with a go-kart will count any inhabitants as enemies killed by a Shifty Kart. To perform a sideswipe, hold down ) / to accelerate and press / while moving the towards your target. This deals tremendous damage, and is often sufficient to destroy enemy vehicles in a sideswipe or two, especially if you possess the Shiny & Chrome Perk. So just sideswipe vehicles you see as you drive about in your go-kart to increment the sideswipe objective, and if it’s an enemy vehicle and you destroy it, you’ll also increment the kills objective. You can also just run over enemies with the Shifty Kart, but your foes tend to be rather jumpy in this game, making it fairly frustrating to defeat them this way.
