The Diablo 4 Main Quest offers plenty of scenarios and you’ll often be facing off against challenging bosses and encounters that will stand in your way in the "Fledgling Scholar" iconFledgling Scholar Main Quest which takes place towards the end of Act I. This page will navigate you through the necessary steps to finding and defeating "Tchort" iconTchort, "Herald" iconHerald of Lilith.

You’ll find Tchort in the Desecrated Archives

How to Find Tchort, Herald of Lilith

Before you can fight Tchort, Herald of Lilith you’ll need to progress through the game until you reach the Main Quest Fledgling Scholar which takes place in Act I. Here you’ll want to take the fiery portal to the Vision of Tristram and follow the Bloodied Wolf through the dungeon until you come across "Neyrelle" iconNeyrelle, then interact with the Three-Faced Statue. Continue progressing through the area until you reach the Desecrated Archives where Tchort awaits.

Tchort, Herald of Lilith Boss Strategy

You’ll be given a fairly decent sized battlefield, but the center of the arena has a tornado, so you’ll need to stick to the outer edge. Tchort has three main attacks you need be aware of and you can learn all about them below:

  • Red Lightning

Throughout the battle Tchort will fire off red lightning which will chip away a quarter of health and push you back into the whirlwind in the center. The best way to avoid this is to play close attention to Tchort and you’ll see four red dots behind him. This indicates that the lightning is imminent, so quickly move to the side.

  • Fire Orbs

Once you’ve passed the first health threshold Tchort will begin summoning multiple fire orbs around the arena. If you don’t take them down, then it’ll explode and unleash an AoE around it. The best way to avoid it, is to take out at least one Fire Orb and stand where it was until the others have exploded.

From the beginning of the battle you’ll notice a large whirlwind in the center of the arena. Throughout the battle Tchort will fire projectiles into it and make it explode, so when you see this make sure you’re standing near the outer edge of the arena to avoid it.

(1 of 3) Keep away from the whirlwinds.

Compared to the other bosses you’ll face in Act I Tchort is one of the easier fights, as you don’t have to deal with ads, but on the flip side you won’t be able to get any potions to recover your health until you take its down to the thresholds. So, you’ll want to get through the fight without taking much damage, so the best way to do this is to go in and use up your mana with your stronger attacks, then quickly get back and recover it whilst waiting for it to use the Red Lightning before going back in.

You’ll always want to stick to the outer edge of the arena, as there is a large whirlwind in the center which will slow you down which makes it harder to avoid its lighting attack. Additionally, you’ll always want to make sure you take down at least one of the fire orbs otherwise you’ll get hit multiple AoE’s at once.
