Another of the rarer events that we came across during the Open Beta weekends was the Ancient Syphon event.
This was quite a cool little event with a couple of tasks at hand to makes things a bit more interesting. Ultimately, you still have to kill all of the bad guys before they kill you, but you can employ some tactics in this one, which means there is a bit more about it than some of the other events you will regularly come across.
How To Complete Diablo IV Ancient Syphon Event
When you stumble across this event it seems you are going to need to do a little work for the dark side as well as just merely surviving yourself.
It is not a long event by any means, our event timer started at one minute and 15 seconds, so this will be a flying visit with no real time to die in the process.
The challenge however is twofold. First merely surviving is the key to living another day, but if you want to get Mastery of the event as well you will need to satisfy the three Ancient Syphons by slaying enemies close enough to them that they can enjoy the blood and gore that you provide.
The event starts with the three Syphons forming a triangle with each having a radius around them where your kills count towards the Mastery achievement.
Enemies will fly in from all sides and you must lure them next to the Syphon you are attempting to appease by moving into that zone and let the bloodletting commence. There are some strong enemies here that will come in bursts, so even though you might be trying to maintain a position in a single area for the task, don’t get hung up and caught out. Be prepared to flee to a different section - it’s not like they will not follow you anyway.
We attempted it with a Level 16 Barbarian on Veteran and it was tough as the enemy assault was relentless but with care and attention you can get through to the end of the timer.
Estimated time to complete event: One Minute 15 Seconds
What Are Events In Diablo IV?
When you make your way to an event area on the map (the red circle that appears indicates something is about take place) you will get a pop up telling you which randomly generated event you are about to come up against.
It is not possible to work out what events are where, but once you enter the correct zone the information you need will be presented to you and you can choose whether to proceed, or about turn and run for your life.
