Request 97: Massive Mass Outbreak in the Mirelands

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for Request 97: “Massive Mass Outbreak in the Mirelands” in the “Daybreak” DLC for Pokémon Legends: "Arceus" IconArceus (PLA).

How to Unlock Request 97

(1 of 2) Mai is chatting with Arezu in front of the Hairdresser’s.

Mai is chatting with Arezu in front of the Hairdresser’s. (left), After investigating the fieldlands, it makes sense to investigate the mirelands next. (right)

You can begin this request by speaking to Mai outside the Hairdresser’s shop in Jubilife Village after completing Request 96. Arezu, Cabala and Mai will exchange gossip; afterwards, it’s decided that you should investigate the Crimson Mirelands.

Upon accepting this request, Mai will ask if you want to enter the mirelands with her or not. To advance this request, agree to her offer.

1. Investigate 3 Mass Outbreaks

The two of you will arrive at the Mirelands Camp, towards the west. Before you can appreciate the surroundings, Melli from Diamond Clan will show up, claiming he’s solved the mystery of the Massive Mass Outbreaks (yeah, right…). Anyway, he’ll give you 20 Aguav Berries.

(1 of 2) Despite everything, this is actually a decent present.

Despite everything, this is actually a decent present. (left), By feeding Mai’s Munchlax berries, you can instantly reveal all the unknown Pokémon! (right)

As you admire the sweet treats, "Munchlax" IconMunchlax instinctively scoffs 5 of the berries. Strangely, this triggers a response on your map, revealing the identity of all the Pokémon in the Massive Mass Outbreak.

You may also notice some Pokémon have icons next to them:

  • A star icon means that outbreak will have a shiny! Nah, just kidding. This just means a second wave is guaranteed. The second wave may include evolved versions of the original wave or all alphas. (Outbreaks without a star can have a second wave, but the chance is lower.)
  • A berry icon means that you can acquire Aguav Berries from that outbreak. You’ll receive one berry for each Pokémon defeated or captured.

Like before, your goal is to investigate any 3 individual outbreaks. Since you can see what Pokémon are found in each outbreak from the beginning, you can simply head straight to the Pokémon that interest you the most.

(1 of 2) Be wary as outbreak Pokémon like to hide and/or move far away from the spawn location.

Be wary as outbreak Pokémon like to hide and/or move far away from the spawn location. (left), Also, if a second wave spawns, that’s nice. But it won’t count towards your request. (right)

As a reminder, you must fully clear out an outbreak for a successful investigation. However, if a second wave spawns in the same location, you do not need to clear it (and if you do, it won’t count towards your progress).

To determine whether an outbreak has been cleared out, look for messages along the top screen that say “the reported Pokémon seems to have gone…” or “A new horde seems to have formed” message. There’ll also be a pop up indicating the progress of your request. If neither of these appear, some Pokémon are probably hiding or far away.

2. Report to Mai

Once you’ve seen 3 outbreaks to the end, fast-travel back to the Mirelands Camp and let Mai know how your fared. This time, Irida herself will come over to pay her respects. Thus ends this request; you probably know what’s coming next.

Reward for Request 97

You should use these to craft a variety of Poké Balls.

You’ll receive the following items:

  • Apricorn x20
  • Black Tumblestone x30
  • Iron Chunk x30
