Tips

Having reached the lofty heights of God Rank, there’s one more challenge before you can properly end your career as a Woodcutter.

Chat to your old Master, Heyho, in his house in East Castelle and he’ll ask you to chop down a legendary Millennial Tree and bring back its Millennial Branch to him. You’ll find the tree near the north part of the West Grassy Plains, where there’s a pond and usually a Bigbeak Egg.

Even if you breezed through the previous challenges, don’t rush your preparations, as this is the hardest Woodcutter challenge by far, requiring the highest stats and the most top-notch equipment you can get your hands on.

If you haven’t already, you should put all your points into Strength, so that it’s at (or close to) 100, and do the same for one of Dexterity or Vitality (or 100 in all three stats if you can).

For your Axe, the Meteor Axe is the tool of choice, preferably with a Goddess Bead and God Material crafted onto it to add Special Tree Damage++. To forge this Axe, you will need to loot three rare Ancient Stone+ from the Giant Mimics in the Trial of Time.

If you’re lucky, try to pull the Celestial Boots (Special Tree Damage++) and Celestial Outfit (Sweet Spot strike power++) from the Origin Island Goddess Statue.

Finally, before setting off, enlist two powerful combat-based allies, as you will need to repel a mini-boss before you can begin working on the Millennial Tree.

The damage is off the charts… You could say, it’s over 9000! (Don’t hit us.)

Having found the Millennial Tree, you will soon awaken a vegetable fiend–the Mustardino –who will do its absolute, annoying best to keep you away. This mini-boss isn’t that hard by God rank standards, but is tough to fight alone, hence the need for allies.

Its standard attack is a quick backflip forward. Next, it may twirl forward, causing consecutive damage if you get caught, before singing and dancing on the spot to recover a small amount of HP. These two attacks are both hard to avoid, so keep an eye on your HP.

To spice things up, the Mustardino may sing and dance on the spot to begin with, before unleashing a damaging sleeping gas around it. Feel free to get some free hits, but back off before it’s too late, as the sleep effect is immensely annoying.

Worse, the Mustardino can use the sleeping gas attack again to cause damage and put you back to sleep before you can wake up. Your allies don’t seem to have any problems with status (except KO), so drag an ally who can cure status if you must.

Having exterminated the rogue vegetable, it’s time to take on the real boss: the Millennial Tree. Depending on how you go about it, this pretty, pink tree can take forever to cut down or mere seconds.

What you need to know is that the Millennial Tree has extremely fast recovery. If your damage output is insufficient or you pause too many times, the tree will recover all the damage you dealt before you can even say “what the hell!”.

The best way to handle this miraculous tree is with your God skill and a whole lot of Special Tree Damage++. You can either hack away at the tree to build up your Special Skill gauge for your God skill or come here with a maxed out gauge; either way works.

Once your God skill is available and your SP is full, trigger your God skill to make every part of the tree a sweet spot, then unleash your Special Skill, followed by your charged attacks. If your stats and equipment are optimum, you can even nail the tree in one Special Skill hit like in our video.
