|Dino Hunter||Defeat 1 Shadowsaurus in the Dark Void as a Mercenary||2000|
|The Heart of Sharkness||Defeat 5 Shadow Sharks in the Dark Void as a Mercenary||1000|
Hero Mercenaries only receive two new Challenges. However to become a Legend, you must complete every single Mercenary Challenge. If there are any Challenges you’ve swept under the carpet, now is the time to properly clean them up.
Should you discover you’re missing Challenges in your list, just cross-reference with our lists to see what you’re missing. Some Challenges are given to you by your Mercenary buddies, but you don’t need to receive a Challenge to complete it!
To find the new monsters, you must visit the Dark Void, which opens after reaching Level 40 and completing the main story.
At the Al Maajik Outskirts, take the ferry along the south bank to Cacto Cove. Once there, head west, into the Cave of Shadows and you’ll find the portal to the Dark Void just ahead.
Note that the monsters inside the Dark Void are randomised, so if you can’t find the Shadow Sharks or Shadowsaurus, just leave and re-enter as many times as necessary.
The monsters in the Dark Void will likely be stronger than any you’ve previously seen–no surprise since they’re all raging shadow monsters.
Of note, the Shadowsaurus is a truly formidable foe and one you shouldn’t fight without undue attention and tons of preparations. That means a lot of potions, Life Cures and two dependable allies such as Odin and Miguel , who you can now invite.
That said, ol’ Shadowsaurus is another big dino not unlike the Lord of the Dead and the others before it. So expect the same three moves: bite, tail swipe and dark breath.
In particular, the Shadowsaurus likes to chain the latter two moves–either a tail swipe followed by dark breath or the other way round. After its two-hit combo, it will stand still for a brief moment, enough to get a few hits in.
If you’re feeling maverick, you can try to stay close and use your Hurricane or Tornado Shot (press A during or after Cross-Cut) to either evade the Shadowsaurus’s tail swipe or at least mitigate its knockback effect.
Alternatively, if you’re unable to tank hits, try to stay away until the Shadowsaurus roars into the sky or uses its dark breath attack, which are the times when it’s most vulnerable. This is the safer method, but will take longer.
