Woodcutters start their career by chopping down Oak Trees, found commonly in the areas surrounding Castele. In particular, the Elderwood , to the north of the East Grassy Plains, is abundant with Oak Trees... and monsters too.
The Challenges are all by the numbers, so use this opportunity to get to grips with your axe. Especially finding a tree's sweet spot and performing "Excellent!" damage at the end. These techniques aren't necessary at this stage, but it's best you get familiar at the earliest opportunity.
Elder Oak Logs can be gotten as a rare drop from Oak Trees and the Greak Oak Tree. The latter can be found near the centre of the Elderwood--it's the slightly bigger Oak Tree, not the giant floating tree in the north-east corner.
Getting one--or three, even--will be slightly tricky because of their scarcity. If you can fell a tree with "Excellent!" damage though, you'll get more item drops, which boosts your chance of getting an Elder Log.
Note : Items obtained from the Bounty Clerk do not count towards any Challenge!
