How to Relearn Moves

This page explains how to teach your Pokémon moves they’ve forgotten or could’ve learned.

Due to the limit of 4 moves per Pokémon, you may run into various dilemmas. Such as having to give up a move that you later regret. Or perhaps you’ve caught a wild Pokémon that’s high Level and doesn’t have a certain move learned earlier that would be immensely useful.

Thankfully, there is a way to resolve these issues: by borrowing the services of the Move Relearner.

Where is the Move Relearner?

(1 of 3) The Move Relearner lives in Pastoria City.

The Move Relearner lives in Pastoria City, in the house right next to the sea. In exchange for a Heart Scale, he will teach your Pokémon any move they can learn up to their current Level, in their current evolutionary form.

Note the wording at the end. If your Pokémon can only learn a move in a previous evolutionary form, they cannot re-learn that move. For example, you can’t make a "Dustox" IconDustox re-learn moves like Harden, which it could’ve learned as a "Cascoon" IconCascoon.

Where to Find Heart Scales?

Using the Dowsing Machine

There are two hidden Heart Scales:

Refer to our screenshots or use the Dowsing Machine app on your Pokétch to pin-point their locations.

By Digging in the Underground

(1 of 2) Heart Scales are small and easily missable.

When digging in the Grand Underground, you may randomly uncover Heart Scales. They’re quite small, occupying 3 squares, and are relatively rare. But when you’re simulataneously farming for Mysterious Shards etc. they’ll start to pile up.

From Luvdisc

(1 of 2) Use a Super Rod to fish for Luvdisc at the Pokémon League or Route 224.

After acquiring the National Pokédex, you can fish for "Luvdisc" IconLuvdisc on Route 224 or the Pokémon League using the Super Rod. There’s a low chance of encountering Luvdisc, but once you find one, 50% of the time, they will carry a Heart Scale. You can then catch the Luvdisc or steal it using the move Thief, etc.

In regards to breeding for IVs with Hyper Trained Pokémon, it won't work because Hyper Training only affects the IVs for battle, not genetics.
