Eterna Forest (Encounters & Items)

By
Vincent Lau

This is a walkthrough for Eterna Forest, including what Pokémon you can encounter and items you can find.

(1 of 2) Eterna Forest.

Eterna Forest is a large woodland that divides Route 205 into two halves. You’ll need to go through Eterna Forest to reach the second half of Route 205, leading towards Eterna City.

Pokémon Trainer Cheryl (Ally)

(1 of 2) Cheryl needs some assistance.

During you first visit to Eterna Forest, you’ll tag along with Cheryl, a kind-hearted Pokémon Trainer. While Cheryl is present, all wild Pokémon encounters will feature two Pokémon at once, with Cheryl assisting as Player 2. Likewise, Cheryl will assist as Player 2 during Double Battles with other trainers.

As an extra bonus, Cheryl will fully restore your party after every single fight. So feel free to use this opportunity to get some solid training in! Cheryl will permanently leave when you reach the endpoint of the forest.

How to Enter the Old Chateau

Towards the north exit of the forest, there’s a bunch of skinny trees blocking the way to the Old Chateau. Once you obtain the Forest Badge from Gardenia, so you can use HM Cut outside of battle, remember to come back here to explore the chateau!

Where’s the Mossy Rock?

North-west from the south entrance, there’s a peculiar rock. If you Level Up an "Eevee" IconEevee near the rock, it will evolve into the Grass-type "Leafeon" IconLeafeon. This is only possible during the postgame, unless you trade with someone.

How to Navigate Eterna Forest

After partnering with Cheryl at the entrance, go west from the signpost and grab the Antidote in the tall grass. Next, head north from before you entered the tall grass. When there’s a gap in the trees on the right, go that way and pass through the tall grass there. Then proceed north to confront two trainers.

Follow the path up and around. Scoop up the Paralyze Heal by the corner. After the next corner, there’s a pair of Psychics a short distance south. Beat them up, then carry on south towards a thick section of tall grass. Make your way to the bottom-left corner of the grass, where there’s a somewhat obscured Great Ball.

(1 of 2) Paralyze Heal.

From here, you can travel directly east to confront two Bug Catchers Alternatively, you can avoid a battle by heading north just before those trainers instead. If you fought the Bug Catchers, continue east towards the far corner, where a Potion awaits. Otherwise, if you skipped them, head east at the nearest opportunity, then south and east.

While at the south-east corner, travel directly north. When you reach the second patch of tall grass, in-between two groups of trees, you can go west, then north to battle another pair of Psychics. If you’re not interested, carry on north all the way. Further up, head west and continue until you reach the far corner. Above, there’s a Honey in the tall grass.

Finally, go north to the next corner, then travel east towards the exit. Just before the exit, there’s a path leading north blocked by some skinny trees. Once you’ve got HM Cut, you can enter this path, which leads to the Old Chateau. Anyway, head for the exit to continue your journey. Cheryl will leave your party.

Pokémon Encounters

(1 of 2) It’s a bit fiddly catching Pokémon while Cheryl is around.
