Information about how to obtain the Dancer class in Fire Emblem Three Hopes.

What is the Dancer Class in Fire Emblem Three Hopes?

The Dancer is a Master Class in Fire Emblem Three Hopes, and is a long-running Fire Emblem stable. In other games, the class was fairly restrictive, generally being limited to specific (usually female) characters, but in Three Houses males finally got a chance to show their moves. Class features generally include access to swords and spells, the ability to use Dance/Special Dance (now a Class Action in Three Hopes), and advantage against tome-users, making them very versatile units. Traditionally they also had a significant chance of avoiding enemies due to their high Speed and class abilities like Sword Avoid +20, but since this is redundant in Three Hopes it has been replaced by the Charm Catalyst Class Ability, which “Increases the Warrior Gauge Fill Rate in proportion to the unit’s Cha.”. For high Cha units who like to spam Warrior Specials, this alone should make the class desirable. The Dancer also features a spin attack that’s very similar to the Fluegal’s/Asura’s Joy-Con-ButtonYJoy-Con-ButtonYJoy-Con-ButtonYJoy-Con-ButtonYJoy-Con-ButtonX combo, and all-in-all it’s a pretty versatile, powerful hybrid swordcaster.

Unlocking the Dancer Class in Fire Emblem Three Hopes

Unlike in previous games, where the Dancer class was limited to a single character per playthrough, once you unlock the Dancer, any character, male or female, can promote to it so long as you have a Master Seal to burn and said character has already mastered either Assassin or Mortal Savant. That said, the requirements for unlocking the Dancer class will vary depending on which route you pick.

How to Unlock the Dancer Class in Scarlet Blaze

You will unlock Dancer via this Surveying Spot in Chapter 12 for Scarlet Blaze

The Black Eagles will unlock the Dancer class in Chapter 12: The Rising Darkness. During this Chapter, you will need to work your way to the southern portion of the War Map, to the Southwestern Hrym Territory. You will be required to clear the Side Quest battles in Phlegethon Territory and Central Hrym Territory first. In order to successfully unlock the Dancer class from the corresponding Surveying Spot, you will need to complete all of the side missions during the Southwestern Hrym Territory Side Quest. There only appears to be a single side mission here, where a bunch of enemy units will appear to ambush one of your characters. Defeat them to complete the side mission.

The Blue Lions can unlock the Dancer class in Chapter 12: The Conquest of Hevring. During this Chapter you’ll need to work your way east to Martyn Territory by completing the Side Quest battles in Ochs Territory, Western Hevring Territory and finally Essar Territory. Once you complete these you’ll need to complete the Side Quest battle in Martyn Territory, Intel on the Imperial Army and complete all the Side Missions during the battle.

This is a unique battle, as it’s also a “Challenging Quest” which imposes a limitation on you, namely “You can only take one unit into battle”. The mission is fairly short and direct, but it’s also absolutely crawling with enemy officers, including Swordmasters, Grapplers, Paladins and Dark Knights. You’ve also got a time limit, which is the battle’s only defeat condition save for your lone unit falling, of course. Bring your best unit with you on this one, you’ll need to kill a lot, and quickly.

Make your way to the northeastern corner of the map and defeat the boulder-chucking Grappler, (left), then wipe out some Bandits in the nearby Stronghold. (right)

Fortunately the battle itself and its objectives are fairly straight-forward. When you start you’ll be tasked with KOing 500 enemies. Just work your way through the map towards the Stronghold in the northeastern corner, defeating everything along the way. After you make progress some Grapplers will appear and start throwing rocks, starting the first Side Mission Defeat the Grappler and stop the boulders!. You’ll find this Grappler just outside of the Stronghold you were working towards.

After more time passes or as you approach the Stronghold in the northeastern corner of the map, some Bandits will appear, starting the second Side Mission Eliminate the Bandits. These Bandits consist of several Dark Knights and a Stronghold Captain (Paladin). Scrub the yellow off the map to finish up the second and final Side Mission.

Once both Side Missions are done, rack up 500 KOs and defeat the enemy commander, (left), then visit the now-unlocked House Surveying Spot outside to acquire the Dancer class. (right)

With that done you just need to reach 500 KOs (assuming the Side Missions didn’t get you there) to complete the Main Mission that you started the battle with. This will prompt the enemy commander - a War Master - to spawn in the Stronghold to the southeast (Farming Village Hut). You need only defeat him before the time limit and, assuming you completed both the aforementioned Side Missions, you’re golden.

Now that you’ve completed the Side Quest battle Intel on the Imperial Army (and presumably completed both its Side Missions in the process) you should be able to access a Surveying Spot (a House) within Martyn Territory. Do so and you’ll be taught the Dancer class.
