Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury

World 5-5: Bob-ombs Below

By
Jarrod Garripoli

This level will contain a lot of Bob-ombs, which normally chase after you if you get too close. Jump on them to cause the Bob-ombs to stop moving, enabling them to be picked up and thrown. Note that they will either explode after a few seconds when chasing you, or whenever you pick them up. Start off by hitting the pyramid of ?-Blocks to get a Super Leaf, then head right. In the pit with the Goomba Tower, there is a wall of purple bricks and if you destroy them with one of the bombs, then you will find Green Star #1 behind it. You could also do a bigger jump and hit the POW Block yourself, if you don’t have a bomb.

(1 of 2) The first Green Star will be behind these purple bricks

The first Green Star will be behind these purple bricks (left), Catch the rabbit here for the second Green Star (right)

Take the clear pipe up and grab another Bob-omb here, throwing it into the blocks at the back side to release a 1-Up Mushroom, which starts racing right. Follow it to the Checkpoint Flag, and you’ll be able to get it before it goes over the ledge. Next up, you’ll find your favorite Rabbit in the center of a rotating platform. Chase after it and catch it for Green Star #2, then hop on to the ledge where Goombas are holding Bombs. Defeat the Goombas without hitting the Bombs, then toss one at the cracked wall and another at the blocks. Jump through the hole and collect the coins as you move right behind the wall, with the Stamp at the end.

Continue over the gaps to a clear pipe, taking the down path to the Cloud Cannon, where you’ll find yourself on a strange platform. Light up all the Color Panels to reveal an 8-bit Mario and Green Star #3. You can use the POW Blocks here, as well as the Bob-ombs to help light all of the panels. Jump off the side to return to the main level, where you can toss a Bob-omb at one of the ?-Blocks to get a power-up. To end the level, toss a Bob-omb at the POW Block, then use the Dash Panels to run straight through the defeated Piranha Plants (the POW Blocks will get them for you) and enter the pipe at the end. Break the blocks in the Goal Pole area to get a good boost to the top of the pole. Using the Tanooki Suit makes this an easy cap.

(1 of 4) You can blow up the cracked wall here
