God of War: Ragnarok

Born From Fire - All Draugr Holes Locations in God of War Ragnarok

By
Scott Peers

This page details everything you need to know about where to find the Draugr Holes for the Born From Fire favor in God of War Ragnarok. There are a total of six Draugr Hole locations to be found, with two in Svartalfheim, one in Alfheim, one in Midgard, and two in Vanaheim. You need to close each of these Draugr Holes by defeating the Draugr associated with them, referred to as “The Hateful”, to complete the favor.

All Draugr Hole (The Hateful) Locations in God of War Ragnarok

The Born From Fire favor will begin only after you’ve closed your first Draugr Hole by defeating “The Hateful” associated with it. You can do these in any order, but they will become progressively more difficult as you move through the regions. You can always come back to a Draugr Hole if you fail to defeat The Hateful there multiple times. If you’re finding one in particular quite difficult, you’ll have plenty of time to gear up and increase your level, which will make things easier by increasing the base amount of damage that you inflict, while decreasing the amount that you take.

Region Subregion
Svartalfheim The Watchtower, Bay of Bounty
Svartalfheim The Applecore, (southern Jarnsmida Pitmines)
Alfheim The Barrens, western side
Midgard Lake of Nine, eastern side
Vanaheim The Crater, northern part of the Eastern Plains
Vanaheim The Abandoned Village, northwest side

The Watchtower, Bay of Bounty, Svartalfheim - Draugr Hole Location

The Draugr Hole at The Watchtower in the Bay of Bounty of Svartalfheim is likely to be the first one that you encounter, and your first experience with The Hateful boss. The Watchtower is inaccessible to begin with, but you can unlock the area by hitting the red fire pot to destroy the rubble around it, then head up the steps to find the Draugr Hole near the top.

You can see our detailed guide on how to defeat The Hateful at this location, which serves as a good overview for how to defeat the others, on our How to Defeat The Hateful in The Watchtower page.

(1 of 3) You can find The Watchtower to the east of the arches in the Bay of Bounty, Svartalfheim.

The Applecore, Svartalfheim - Draugr Hole Location

You will find this Draugr Hole in The Applecore, which you should encounter as you play through the main story during the search for Tyr. However, if you missed it the first time, you can access The Applecore (and the Jarnsmida Pitmines) from the ferry near the Mystic Gateway in the southern part of the Aurvangar Wetlands.

(1 of 2) You can take the ferry from the Aurvangar Wetlands to get back to The Applecore.

The Barrens, Alfheim - Draugr Hole Location

The Barrens region of Alfheim will be covered in a sandstorm when you first enter it, and the only way to disperse this storm is to complete Secret of the Sands favor. The Song of the Sands favor is required to clear the storm in The Forbidden Sands area, but you don’t need to go there for this Draugr Hole. You can actually access this Draugr Hole without clearing the storm at all, but it will be much more difficult to see things, and certain parts of the area will be blocked off while the storm rages, so we recommend doing that first.

Once you’ve cleared the storm, head over to the location shown on the map below, where the question mark icon is. You’ll find The Hateful on a platform here.

Lake of Nine, Midgard - Draugr Hole Location

You will find The Hateful in Midgard in the northeastern part of the region, as shown on the map below. You shouldn’t have any trouble accessing this part of the map, since all you need to do is step over a ledge to find it.

(1 of 2) The location of the Draugr Hole in Midgard, in the northeast part of the region.

Eastern Plains, The Crater, Vanaheim - Draugr Hole Location

You can find this Draugr Hole in the Eastern Plains, in the northern part of The Crater, which is a subregion of Vanaheim. You need to complete the Return of the River favor to bring water back to the region before you can access this Draugr Hole, since you need to take the boat and row to the platform.

The Abandoned Village, Vanaheim - Draugr Hole Location

This Draugr Hole can be found in the northwestern part of The Abandoned Village, in the northeast of Vanaheim. You may be locked out of this area depending on where you are in the story, so be sure to check our page on How to Return to Old Areas in Vanaheim if you need to find you way back. The Draugr Hole here can be found within a glade of rock and trees here, and there will be some additional lesser Draugr in the area which may enter the fight.

(1 of 2) You will find the Draugr Hole in the northwest of The Abandoned Village, which itself is located in the northeast of Vanaheim.
