All Relics and Sword Hilts in GoWR

By
Scott Peers

This page details the location of all 14 Relics and Sword Hilts that can be found in God of War: Ragnarok. We’ll cover what each Relic or Sword Hilt does, and how to obtain it.

Where to Find All Relics and Sword Hilts in God of War Ragnarok

There are a total of 14 Relics and Sword Hilts in God of War: Ragnarok, but not all of them can be acquired early on. You may be confused about the difference between Relics and Sword Hilts, but they are essentially both the same thing with different naming conventions. Both are used in the same way by holding DualSense-L1 and pressing DualSense-ButtonCircle once you have one equipped, and each Relic or Sword Hilt will provide a different kind of buff or effect.

How to Craft Relics and Sword Hilts

You’ll notice from the table below that a number of the Relics and Sword Hilts are acquired from the world by going through the story or defeating specific enemies. However, some will need to be crafted by Brok or Sindri at one of their shops, and you’ll need some Hacksilver for this. You will also need specific Lore Scrolls which are mentioned in the location where relevant below, which act as recipes so that the items appear in the shop for crafting. You need to obtain all of the below Relics / Sword Hilts to unlock the Collector trophy.

Best Relics and Sword Hilts in God of War Ragnarok?

As you can see from the table above, there are quite a few Relics and Sword Hilts to choose from, especially considering that you can only use one at a time. However, you will acquire most of these gradually throughout the game, rather than all in a short space of time. This means that you’ll likely keep using the same one or two for the early game before gradually introducing new finds.

In terms of the best early game Relic or Sword Hilt, we’d recommend using the Hilt of Gram. The burst of rage is potentially useful in any situation, but it’s the stun damage that makes this one most useful. You can use this to briefly knock back or interrupt multiple enemies if you’re overwhelmed or trapped in a corner, giving you a chance to retaliate or regain some footing elsewhere. The can also interrupt most boss attacks, including unblockable ones, if you time the use of the Hilt of Gram properly. This can be extremely useful if you need to interrupt one of the more powerful attacks from a boss, especially if you use it early on so that you have an opportunity to use it again later in the fight.

You’ll notice that many of the other Relics and Hilts directly inflict damage in some form, such as the Hilt of Ridill’s electric shock damage or the hazardous poison explosions with the Hilt of Dainsleif. Most of the mid to late game Relics and Sword Hilts are intended to provide powerful destructive abilities, which you may choose according to your own preference. However, there are some such as the Hilt of Forsbrandr which provide more of a defensive ability, pushing enemies back and granting an aura of protection for a few seconds.

All of these will perform well in fights, but if you’re looking for a Relic that will inflict as much stun damage as possible, given how important it is to inflict this type of damage in almost any fight, it’s difficult to beat Motsognir’s Call. However, keep in mind that this can only be acquired near the end of the story, but it’s still worth using against any side content enemies or bosses that you might be struggling with.

Talisman of Meign

It’s impossible to miss this Relic as you need to pick it up from a corpse during The Quest for Tyr main story. This is a fairly basic Relic which boosts your melee damage for a short period of time upon use. The amount of damage boosted will increase with each upgrade to the item.

(1 of 2) You can loot the relic from the corpse in the wall.

You can loot the relic from the corpse in the wall. (left), You’ll need to equip the relic from the weapons menu. (right)

Glaive of Dodher

This one is dropped by Fiske, one of Odin’s guardians protecting the way to the last vestige of his magic which bound Freya to Midgard. The Glaive of Dodher provides a powerful ranged attack in the form of 3 Bifrost chakrams that swerve into enemies. Upgrades to this item will increase the number of chakrams launched upon use.

You’ll need to defeat Fiske along the path during The Reckoning main quest.

Hilt of Gram

You’ll find this one in a Legendary Chest that you encounter inside the Temple of Light, Alfheim. You can see our All Collectibles in Temple of Light page for its precise location. The Hilt of Gram is one of the most useful abilities to apply extra stun damage to nearby enemies, giving you a chance to hit them with a stun grab attack using DualSense-R3. It will also provide you with a brief rage burst, and these effects can be enhanced by upgrading the item.

You need to complete the puzzle to reach the Legendary Chest here, which contains the Hilt of Gram.
