Strategies for all Difficulties
The first of the lost child sidequests (numerically, at least). Owain will be in the middle of the field, so it’s advisable you get over to him quickly with either Lissa or Chrom in order to recruit him and keep him out of trouble. He can handle a few enemies but may get overwhelmed.
There are NPC Sages on the map that the enemies will target, and it is really difficult to save all of them. (The Assassin to the west will move and kill the nearby Sage as soon as the enemy turn begins, for instance).
Try to save at least one: the easiest being to the south and southwest, where your units will reach easiest. Talking to them with any character will give you an item. They will also heal you with Physic when able.
Your units can split in two groups – one going west, and one going south – and reunite to head southwest to the boss. Be wary of the boss; he will move if you are in his attack range, and has the Vantage and Pass skills, meaning he can go through your units, as well as attack first.
There are advanced class enemies around the map that will hit hard if you’re not careful, so view the map and know which enemies are where!
At this point in the game it is possible you either have a super team (through grinding in skirmishes to build supports), or an average team. Regardless, a defensive move forward to protect the Sages may be the best approach. Keep pairing up your units.
Note: Owain can obtain an unique sword – the Missiletainn – by speaking to the Sage in the south-eastern village. If a different character talked to the Sage first, Owain won’t receive the sword. You can get another copy of the sword from the DLC.
Did you know: The Sage’s Hamlet was a village in Fire Emblem: Gaiden. Originally it was only accessible via the Lost Treescape.
