A New Home

Survivors of Haven and people from all over Thedas flock to Skyhold. Cassandra addresses you and decides to name you the leader, the Inquisitor! Your dialogue choice here greatly affects approval for most companions. For a breakdown of dialogue options and their impact, see dialogue options during the ceremony.

Speak with Josephine in the Antechamber

When you’re done talking to everyone in the throne room, you will need to speak with Josephine in the antechamber. This is located through the door to the left of the throne as you approach it. When you’re done speaking with Josephine, Cullen, and Leliana, you can visit the War Room at Skyhold for the first time by taking the door to the left of where Josephine is sat.

(1 of 2) Take the door to the left of the throne as you approach it.

An Old Friend of Varric

You’ll have a conversation with the group and Varric mentions a friend. This friend is a well-known person from Dragon Age II, who you should be very familiar with and he would like you to meet them on the battlements. In short, this friend has a Warden friend (different depending on your world state) in Crestwood and that’s good because you can find out if the Grey Wardens have truly gone missing and where. If you speak with Cassandra she’ll blow up at Varric but you can try to work it out later.

You’ll find Varric on the battlements of Skyhold. Head south west from the main keep until you reach a rampart. Ascend and follow it north west through a door. You’ll find Varric a short way along the rampart from here.

(1 of 3) Head south west from the main keep until you reach the rampart.

Recruit Dorian or Cole

You had the chance to recruit one of them earlier based on your choices. The other can now be found residing in Skyhold. You’ll find Dorian at the highest point of the library in the main keep, just up the stairs from the room in which Solas dwells, adjacent the throne room. Cole can be found outside the keep, within the main courtyard. Descend the steps from the main keep and turn right. Go through the archway and down the steps, at the bottom of which you’ll find a marker for Cole. He is invisible at this stage, but after interacting with the marker you’ll trigger a cutscene, at the end of which you’ll have the opportunity to recruit Cole.

(1 of 3) Head under the archway at the bottom of the stairs to the main keep.

Recruiting Dagna

To recruit Dagna, select Acquire the Arcanist from the Ferelden side of the war table. The mission will automatically complete and you will now be able to find Dagna in the Undercroft. You can now visit the Undercroft at any time to craft runes.

(1 of 2) Once you’ve completed Acquire the Arcanist from the war table, go to the Undercroft through the door beside the throne.

Specializations for the Inquisitor

Visit the War Table and start the mission Specializations for the Inquisitor. You’ll have three advisors come to Skyhold allowing you to pick one Specialization for a specific class. All of your companions have taken on their Specialization at this point.

Once the mission is complete, 3 trainers will arrive at Skyhold, depending on your class. Each trainer specialises in one skill tree for each class. They are as follows:

Warrior

  • Chancer de Lion (Specialises in Champion)
  • Ser (Specialises in Templar)
  • Breaker Thram (Specialises in Reaver)

Mage

  • Viuus Anaxas (Specialises in Necromancer)
  • Your Trainer (Specialises in Rift Mage)
  • Helaine (Specialises in Knight-Enchanter)

Rogue

  • Three-Eyes (Specialises in Artificer)
  • Heir (Specialises in Assassin)
  • Kihm (Specialises in Tempest)
