Horizon Forbidden West

How to Find & Defeat the Stillsands North Rebel Outpost

By
Staci Miller

This is everything you need to know about how to find and defeat the Stillsands North Rebel Outpost in Horizon Forbidden West.

How to Find the Stillsands North Rebel Outpost

If you can’t find the Stillsands North Rebel Outpost on the map, head directly west of the Stillsands Tallneck and keep checking. The icon will eventually pop up around there.

There’s a ten-level jump from the last one to this.

You should try to be Level 25 to attempt this Outpost, as it’s significantly more difficult than the last if you’re doing them in order. However, if you’re playing the game on an easier mode or are particularly skillful, you may well be able to take it on.

There’s another reason this Outpost is a little more difficult to take on that some of the others. Many of the others have cover and a lot of things to dodge around, which means it’s easier to take one Rebel Soldier on at a time and slowly inch your way towards the leader.

Because this Outpost is out in the desert, it makes things a little more difficult. There is some long grass at the edge that you can hide in but for the most part, you’re exposed because there’s so much sand around and not enough greenery and structures.

You get two objectives: find and kill the Outpost leader (mandatory) and kill the Rebels (optional). Due to the layout of the Outpost, however, it’s much easier to do both than try and stealth your way to the leader through this one.

There are also Machines you’ll have to take down and starting with these can be a little easier, as you can use your Focus to track their path and try to use the limited grass to stealth them. This at least gets them out of the way.

The good news is, you won’t have to search particularly hard to find the Rebel Leader. He’s amongst the other Rebels and will come right at you once the fighting begins. He can be a bit hard to take down due to his fighting skill and the fact the other Rebels and Machines will try to stop you, so if you want to focus on him, hit him hard and fast.

Once you’ve defeated him, you’ll get the usual Soldier Tags and a couple of other goodies. There are no rewards or Skill Points for finishing this Outpost, as usual, so once you’ve done that, it’s time to leave — after searching around for some chests and materials in the Outpost, of course, as you should do with them all.

You can choose to take out the other Rebels on your way out if there are any left.

If you’re done with fighting, you can just leave the area and listen to Aloy remark to herself that the Rebel Soldiers will abandon the place now that their leader is gone and the quest is considered complete.
