Glowblast Sharpshot Bow (Very Rare)

By
Nathan Garvin

Information about the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow in Horizon Forbidden West, including how to obtain it, how to upgrade it, and what the strengths and weaknesses of the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow are.

Glowblast Sharpshot Bow Description

“As deadly as the tribe that crafted it, this long-range Tenakth bow delivers devastating Plasma payloads that can prime a target for a Plasma Blast or detonate Glowblast Canisters.”

You can purchase the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow from a Hunter at either The Raintrance Hunting Grounds or Thornmarsh.

How to Get the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow

Location Cost
The Raintrance Hunting Grounds/Thornmarsh Hunter 1035x Metal Shards + 1x Thunderjaw Circulator + 1x Large Machine Core

You can buy this bow from various merchants in the western half of the Forbidden West. To access these areas you must complete the quest The Eye of the Earth, which is about a third of the way through the main questline.

Once this hurdle has been overcome, you still have to make the trek west to find a merchant who keeps this weapon in stock, and in this case it’s a long trek indeed. The Delta Sharpshot Bow is sold in the town of Thornmarsh, which can be located along the western coast. You can also buy it from the Hunter at The Raintrance Hunting Grounds, which is further east. Either way, you’ll have to travel quite a distance to buy it.

In addition to a hefty number of Metal Shards, you’ll need to trade a [Thunderjaw] Circulator, a common drop from Thunderjaws. These apex predators are surprisingly common throughout the Forbidden West.

How to Use the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow

The Glowblast Sharpshot Bow is a very interesting weapon. Starting out with three types of ammo unlocked, each of them has its own niche - Precision Arrows deal Impact damage, Plasma Precision Arrows inflict Plasma and Plasma Buildup, and Tear Precision Arrows are almost singularly focused at tearing components off enemies. The first two have synergy - hit an enemy with Plasma Precision Arrows until they’re under the effect of the Plasma Blast debuff, then switch to Precision Arrows to make the inevitable explosion really hurt. Tear Precision Arrows may not contribute synergistically, but they’re a welcome addition all the same, and their inclusion ensures this bow outclasses the Cleaving Sharpshot Bow in almost every possible way.

Like most Very Rare weapons, the Glowblast Sharpshot Bow has three perks - High Ground Damage, Overdraw Damage and Component Tear - and it can unlock up to three Coil Slots when fully upgraded.

If there’s any downside to this weapon, it’s the fact that its upgrade requirements are dominated by Greenshine. If you’ve scoured the map thoroughly and have a healthy stockpile built up, it may not be a problem, but machine components are a renewable resource - Greenshine isn’t, so make sure you’re ready to commit before upgrading.

  • Plasma Precision Arrows: Heavy arrows rigged with Glowblast canisters, inflicts minor Plasma damage and heavy Plasma Buildup. Hit an enemy until they’re affected by the Plasma Blast debuff. When the debuff wears off an explosion will trigger, dealing additional damage to the target. Switch to Impact damage while the target is under the effects of the Plasma Blast debuff to increase the damage the exlosion deals.

  • Precision Arrows: The standard ammunition for Sharpshot Bows. Deals heavy Impact damage and heavy Tear damage. Great for sniping from afar, especially as a stealthy first strike.

  • Tear Precision Arrows: Specialized Precision Arrows that deal tremendous Tear damage, but little Impact damage. Excellent for removing components, but deals very little actual damage to most machines. Use these to remove troublesome weapons or harvest must-have components (ideally before a fight begins), but be wary - removing too many components may deprive you of Weakpoints to strike if you want to destroy the machine.
