Best Framme Builds in Fire Emblem Engage

By
Nathan Garvin

A humble aspirant to the post of 33rd Steward of the Dragon and cofounder of the "Divine Dragon" iconDivine Dragon Fan Club, "Framme" iconFramme’s loyalty (read: single-minded devotion) to the cause is never in question, especially when she squeals about gaining the Divine Dragon’s attention when selected in battle. She’ll first appear as an ally in Chapter 1, but doesn’t officially join until the story battle in Chapter 2, making her and "Clanne" iconClanne the second-longest tenured party members behind "Alear" iconAlear and "Vander" iconVander. This page will discuss Framme’s strengths and weaknesses, including her starting stats, stat maximums and stat growths, and suggest the best classes and Emblem Rings for Framme.

!Framme’s high SPD and decent martial stats make her a good choice for a Griffin Knight, where she’ll serve as a secondary AVO tank alongside Chloé.

Framme’s Stats and Stat Growths

Framme’s a bit of an odd bird. Her STR/MAG and DEF/RES growths are pretty even, with STR and RES winning out by 5%. Both are middling, which makes her a decent generalist, but her SPD growth is why we’re talking about her. At 55%, she’s tied for the fastest SPD growth in the game, although her SPD cap is only +2, which puts her a point behind "Chloé" iconChloé. It would be a shame to not make use of a character who can reach 50 SPD, which would qualify her as a great AVO tank, making most of her other defensive stats somewhat redundant. Her HP are a middling 55%, and despite having faster STR growth, her MAG has a higher stat cap, and her decent DEF/RES growth rates aren’t reflected by her stat caps, as both have a -1 cap penalty.

Perhaps the oddest thing about Framme is she doesn’t get any native BLD growth, potentially locking her to an abysmal 3 BLD, which, if left unattended, would inhibit her SPD and relegate her to low WT weapons. This can be countered in a few ways - promote her into a class with good BLD growth, like "Berserker" iconBerserker or General, or, if you have the Expansion Pass, learn and equip the Starsphere skill. The former solution entails extra grinding and still requires a bit of luck, but Framme will likely always have a somewhat low BLD.

Stat Base Max Growth Lvl 40
HP 18 55% 39.45
BLD 3 0% 3
STR 3 30% 14.7
MAG 5 +1 25% 14.75
DEX 8 -1 35% 21.65
SPD 7 +2 55% 28.45
DEF 4 -1 25% 13.75
RES 8 -1 30% 19.7
LCK 5 +1 25% 14.75

(1 of 2) Due to her passable STR growth, Framme can pick off weaker foes in melee,

Due to her passable STR growth, Framme can pick off weaker foes in melee, (left), but her MAG growth as a Griffin Knight will also be sufficient to allow her to switch to magic weapons in order to deal with high DEF targets. (right)

Best Classes for Framme

Framme joins as a Lvl 1 "Martial Monk" iconMartial Monk, and she’ll serve well enough in this role until you’re ready to promote her. The easy decision would be to follow her proficiency with arts and promote her to a "Martial Master" iconMartial Master or "High Priest" iconHigh Priest, and since her STR and MAG growths are fairly even, there’s nothing really calling you in any other direction. Her SPD, however, is definitive, and at a 55% growth rate with a +2 cap, it’s one of the highest SPD scores in the game, and it’d be a shame to waste it on bafflingly slow classes like Martial Master and High Priest.

High Priest

Is this a waste of Framme’s SPD? Yes. Is it still a good fit? Also yes. Framme’s got slightly higher STR growth than MAG, but her MAG should still be good enough to make use of the tomes the High Priest gets (up to grade B) giving High Priest Framme "Elwind" iconElwind and "Elthunder" iconElthunder will make her a competent caster while allowing her to retain her use of staves and arts. Not a bad choice if you want Framme in your party and don’t mind her being a general all-rounder.

Wolf Knight

Most high SPD characters should at least contemplate the Wolf Knight, and Framme fits especially well. Wolf Knight has a good STR, SPD and RES cap, which fits Famme’s growths well, and if you go with a sword variant Wolf Knight you can bring an Armor Breaker or "Levin Sword" iconLevin Sword to deal with high DEF enemies. Her SPD (and hence, AVO) should keep Framme safe enough, but daggers give her another ranged option, and a low WT one, at that, which compliment’s Framme’s low BLD.

Griffin Knight

We mentioned earlier that Framme compares well to Chloé, and while Chloé is undoubtedly superior (higher HP, MAG, DEX, DEF growths, lower STR, RES growths), there’s no shame in being second to one of the best AVO tanks in the game. Instead of focusing on the differences, however, we should make a note of the similarities - high SPD and middling STR/MAG and DEF/RES growths. These stats make Chloé a good AVO tank, and there’s no reason why they wouldn’t make Framme one, too.

Since Griffin Knight is a good class for an AVO tank in general, it’s a good option for Framme. As a Griffin Knight, Framme will be able to reach over 50 SPD and her STR and MAG can both be used to deal with enemies, as the situation demands - we suggest going with "Javelin" iconJavelins for general use, but a "Flame Lance" iconFlame Lance will deal with armored foes in a pinch (its high WT will trouble Framme, but armored enemies tend to have low SPD, so it evens out). If you’re a bit upset that this calls for Framme to abandon arts, you can at least take solace in the fact that she’ll keep staves, for a bit of lore continuity. While Chloé might be a better candidate for AVO tank/Griffin Knight, there’s absolutely no reason you can’t have two characters filling that role, especially when you’ll need to split up to tackle different objectives regularly in later battles.

Equipping Emblem Micaiah will allow !Framme to serve as a highly mobile healer, as well as AVO tank and secondary combatant.

Best Emblem Rings for Framme

Framme’s choice in rings will vary by her role (and by what you give Chloé, let’s be honest). She won’t be a great AVO tank as a High Priest, but she’ll be contending for the same pool of rings as a Wolf Knight or Griffin Knight.

Sigurd

Useful for both Griffin Knight and Wolf Knight Framme, "Sigurd" iconSigurd will help Framme zip around the battlefield, allowing her to headhunt and heal, as the situation demands. "Yunaka" iconYunaka and Chloé are probably better choices for this Emblem Ring, if you have them, (especially Wolf Knight Yunaka), but if the opportunity presents itself, Framme will make good use of it.

Lyn

"Lyn" iconLyn is a decent, albeit inferior, alternative to Sigurd and since Framme is a decent, albeit inferior alternative to Chloé, this ring naturally becomes her second option if she’s an AVO tank. Lyn’s Speedtaker ability will give Framme more SPD the more times she initiates combat and kills enemies, and with Framme’s BLD crunch, she could use the boost. Alacrity is always a nice boon for a speedy character, but Framme’s lower BLD does make her something of a liability here, less so if she’s a Wolf Knight using low WT daggers. Finally, Lyn’s "Astra Storm" iconAstra Storm gives Framme a long-ranged option, which is a bonus.

Celica

If you go the route of the High Priest with Framme, "Celica" iconCelica becomes preferable to the typical AVO tank Emblem Rings, although Celica is arguably better used on a character with access to higher grade tomes, who can make use of Celica’s abilities better. Still, Framme will make regular, good use of "Resonance" iconResonance for a pure damage boost and her ability to self heal as a high Priest will mitigate any worries about the HP drain of Resonance.

Micaiah

Regardless of what class Framme is, "Micaiah" iconMicaiah is a good choice. It increases the range and area of any staves Framme uses, and gives Framme access to "Shine" iconShine and "Nosferatu" iconNosferatu, which will make use of her decent MAG growth. "Great Sacrifice" iconGreat Sacrifice is also a boon on any character who can simply fly out of danger (Griffin Knight). Perhaps most interestingly, Micaiah will give any unit the ability to use staves… even Wolf Knight Framme, giving Framme a ton of options. Staves? Check. Daggers? Check. Plus your choice of axes, swords or lances. Framme + Micaiah is an awfully appealing pick

Best Skills for Yunaka

As for skills, Framme should learn and inherit the standard leveling skills: "Lineage" iconLineage from Edelgard (substitute with "Mentorship" iconMentorship from "Byleth" iconByleth if you don’t have access to it) and Starsphere from Tiki. These will both make an already strong character even stronger, which is always welcome. Other than that, "Marth" iconMarth’s AVO+ skills are obviously desirable for an aspiring AVO tank, even though most enemies will struggle to hit Framme when she’s in cover due to her natural AVO. "Tiki" iconTiki’s "Lifesphere" iconLifesphere is also wonderful for a passive AVO tank, as it’ll heal Framme for up to 40HP (and remove status effects!) while she waits. You could also go out of your way to learn Lyn’s Alacrity and Speedtaker abilities if you wanted to benefit from those without having Lyn equipped.
