How to Find the Stranded Graveyard

The Stranded Graveyard is your starting location in Limgrave, you’ll appear here after your fight with the Grafted Scion in the intro, win or lose. You can choose to either descend into a pit to complete a tutorial area, or just continue to the surface.

How to Complete the Stranded Graveyard

Once you’re done creating your character, make your way forward and loot a corpse to obtain the Tarnished’s Wizened Finger. You must pick this up before you can exit the room.

Leave and follow the linear path ahead, cross a bridge and you’ll ultimately encounter the game’s first boss, the Grafted Scion. As is standard in these games, victory is possible, but not expected. If you can defeat it, you’ll acquire the Ornamental Straight Sword and the Golden Beast Crest Shield.

When you arise in the Stranded Graveyard you’ll obtain the Flask of Crimson Tears and the Flask of Cerulean Tears.

Win or lose, by some contrivance or another you’ll end up falling and waking up in the depths of the Stranded Graveyard, near the Cave of Knowledge. You’ll obtain both the Flask of Crimson Tears (restores HP when used) and the Flask of Cerulean Tears when you come to. If you turn east you’ll spot an item on a ledge, well out of reach - you can’t get this yet, so don’t worry about it.

If you continue west you’ll find some doors leading to the exit, while down a pit to the north is the Cave of Knowledge, which serves as the game’s tutorial area. It’s not a bad idea to brush up on basic combat before heading out into the world, plus, you’ll gain a gesture for completing the tutorial.

Sites of Grace serve as fast travel points, save points, and rest areas, among many other functions.

Drop down into the pit, using ledges to break your fall, then continue northwest to find the Cave of Knowledge Site of Grace. The cave ahead is a linear series of tunnels and chambers mostly populated by [Undead Soldiers], who are at best mildly interested in your presence. Most encounters are set up to teach you something different, so press through the tutorial at your own pace, and if you die you’ll find yourself back at the Cave of Knowledge Site of Grace, fully recovered for another attempt.

The only enemies of note are the two [Godrick Soldiers], one of which is armed with a crossbow and will ambush you from high ground, and the other is armed with a spear and a shield. The former will teach you not to tarry fruitlessly in situations where the enemy has the advantage and the latter will give you a crash course in dealing with shielded enemies.

(1 of 2) The Soldier of Godrick will test your grasp of the basics.

The Soldier of Godrick will test your grasp of the basics. (left), Loot a corpse to obtain the “Gesture: Strength!” - your reward for completing the tutorial. (right)

Finally, at the end of the tutorial you’ll encounter the game’s first boss, the Soldier of Godrick. He can hit relatively hard, but doesn’t have a whole lot of HP himself - if you’ve the patience to try, you can learn to parry here, or test out other abilities at your disposal, which will vary depending on your starting class.

Defeat the Soldier of Godrick, then press on until you find yourself back in the room where you woke up after your encounter with the Grafted Scion, albeit you now enjoy a loftier perch. Loot a corpse on the edge of the ledge you’re on to obtain the Gesture: Strength!, then drop down. Tutorial complete!

Leave the tutorial area and grab the Tarnished’s Furled Finger and the Finger Serverer items.

Exit through the doors to the west and continue on until you reach a chamber housing the Stranded Graveyard Site of Grace and rest up if you need to. When you’re ready, press on to the west and loot a corpse to obtain the Tarnished’s Furled Finger and the Finger Severer - items used for multiplayer.

Continue west and pull a lever to summon a lift, then stand on the pressure plate in the middle to ride it up to the surface and escape this area.
