Defeat a pack of Demi-Humans, (left), then find Kenneth Haight atop some ruins. (right)

How to Find Kenneth Haight

While your goal is Fort Haight, before you head there you should make a detour to give yourself extra incentive to explore the fort. From the Third Church of Marika follow the road northwest until you find some Demi-Humans prowling and enjoying some plunder under a massive ruin. You should also hear somebody calling out for assistance. Provide it by killing the Demi-Humans, then climb atop the ruins to find Kenneth Haight, who will ask you to reclaim Fort Haight for him. Agree, then make your way to Fort Haight (see the directions, above).

You can find a Golden Seed just outside of Fort Haight.

How to Complete Fort Haight

As you approach Fort Haight, past the Mistwood Ruins, when the road turns east, veer off to the south to find the Fort Haight West Site of Grace, which will serve as a staging point for your assault on this area.

Mount up and continue following the road until you reach some fortifications on the hill leading up to Fort Haight. Demi-Humans are attempting to ascend to the fort, but a ballista thwarts their attempts; with any luck the Demi-Humans will draw the fire of the ballista and allow you to ride uphill.

(1 of 3) Be wary of Undead Soldiers throwing Fire Pots.

When you make it near the fort you’ll be confronted by the defenders, including Undead Soldiers, Godrick Soldiers and a Pumpkin Head. This time around, the Pumpkin Head isn’t a boss, just a normal enemy, albeit a relatively durable one. Defeat these foes, then search southwest of the fort to find a Golden Seed near a small tree.

Head upstairs into the fort, where you’ll find more Undead Soldiers and Godrick Soldiers. The main source of danger here are all the explosive barrels lying about, which mix poorly with the fire bombs the Undead Soldiers will toss at you - sometimes from heigts. If you can smash or roll through the barrels you’ll effectively disarm them, but you can also use ranged attacks to kill the Undead Soldiers from afar. Failing either of those options, bait enemies to the gate and kill as many as possible, then rush up to the Undead Soldiers and cut them down.

When the courtyard is clear, head northeast through a doorway and search a corpse to find the Nomadic Warrior’s Cookbook (6), then head up stairs to reach the top of the fort, where you’ll find a Godrick Knight. He’s as close to a boss as this area has, although he’s not really much stronger than the Godrick Knights you could find elsewhere. Defeat him and he’ll drop the Ash of War: Bloody Slash.

Next enter a tower to the south and climb a ladder, whereupon you’ll a chest. Loot it to claim the Dectus Medallion (Left).

Return to Kenneth Haight after clearing Fort Haight to obtain the Erdsteel Dagger.

With the fort clear, return to Kenneth Haight (he’s still atop the ruins northwest of the Third Church of Marika) and talk to him to earn an Erdsteel Dagger for your efforts. For more information on Kenneth Haight’s questline, check out his quest page.

You can find a Nomadic Merchant northwest of Fort Haight.

What Items You Can Buy From the Nomadic Merchant

North of the Fort Haight West Site of Grace, northwest of Fort Haight itself, near the edge of the forest you should spot a campfire, near which is a Nomadic Merchant. He’ll sell you a variety of wares, as follows:
