Description

Field Gems are all about changing the way your character’s interact with the world outside of battle. It’s a category that is mostly forgettable but some of the detection based Gems are useful in the earlier parts of the game where you want to reach areas earlier than you normally would.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Aerial Cloak 60% Reduces detection range of aerial monsters by x%
  • Uses: This Gem will make it easier to avoid higher level enemies that are based in the air such as Rhoguls and Vangs. As with most Gems in this category, it’s usage will diminish as you progress through the game.

  • Best Characters: As with most of the Field Gems, you’ll want this on your party leader when you need to make use of it but look to do without where possible.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Aquatic Cloak 60% Reduces the detection range of aquatic monsters by x%
  • Uses: This Gem will make it easier to avoid higher level enemies that are based in the water such as Throne Sardis in Colony 9. As with most Gems in this category, it’s usage will diminish as you progress through the game.

  • Best Characters: As with most of the Field Gems, you’ll want this on your party leader when you need to make use of it but look to do without where possible.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Auto-Heal Up 25% Increases HP recovered by Auto-Heal outside of battle by x%
  • Uses: Strong contender for one of the most useless Gems in the game and one that has zero use. When set, this will increase the rate of HP recovered outside of battle, something this is already fairly fast.

  • Best Characters: Avoid this Gem at all costs, in fact, sell it, as the Gold is more useful than it.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Earth Cloak 60% Reduces detection range of ground monsters by x%
  • Uses: This Gem will make it easier to avoid higher level enemies that are based in on the ground for which most of the enemies in the game are classified as. As with most Gems in this category, it’s usage will diminish as you progress through the game.

  • Best Characters: As with most of the Field Gems, you’ll want this on your party leader when you need to make use of it but look to do without where possible. This is the most useful of all the Cloak Gems.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Fall Defence 75% Reduces damage taken from falling by x%
  • Uses: Yet another contender for one of the most useless Gems in the game and one that has little use. When set, this will reduce the damage taken from falling, an issue that’s solved by the fast out of combat healing anyway.

  • Best Characters: Avoid this Gem at all costs, it’s uses are limited and a waste of a slot.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Quick Step 25% Increases movement speed by x%
  • Uses: Arguably the most useful Gem in the Field category but that’s not saying much. When set, this Gem will increase your movement speed out of battle which can be useful to traversing some of the large areas at a quicker speed (such as the Eryth Sea’s ocean).

  • Best Characters: As with most of the Field Gems, you’ll want this on your party leader when you need to make use of it.

Icon Name Cap Effect
Terrain Defence 75% Reduces damage taken from environment by x%
  • Uses: A highly situational Gem, this will decrease the damage taken from hazardous terrain such as lava (Valak Mountain), Poison Swamps (Satorl Marsh) and Ether Pools.

  • Best Characters: As with most of the Field Gems, you’ll want this on your party leader when you need to make use of it.
