Cyberpunk 2077

Run This Town Walkthrough in Cyberpunk 2077 - Bennett or Jago

By
Matt Chard

Run This Town is a side job in Cyberpunk that was added with the Phantom Liberty expansion. Mr. Hands will call you up looking to replace the late Kurt Hansen as the top dog of Dogtown, and he wants you to see over the transition of leadership. What Mr. Hands wants isn’t necessarily what he gets, and you’ll be able to choose between Bennett or Jago to take over. Read below to find out how to accept Run This Town, and what rewards you’ll get depending on whom you choose as the new leader of Dogtown.

Bennett and Jago are paying their respects to the late Kurt Hansen.

How to Accept Run This Town

Run This Town becomes available after Kurt Hansen dies. This can be as early as the Firestarter mission provided you kill him during it. After this pre-requirement has been met, Mr. Hands will give you a call which leads him to ask you to meet him face-to-face at the Heavy Hearts club.

Fast Travel to Golden Pacific and follow the road northeast until you reach the large pyramid building, this is Heavy Hearts. Enter the building, and head to the back of the club where you’ll find the elevator. Take this to floor 03 - Private Rooms then head into the first door on your left to find Mr. Hands.

He’ll tell you that due to the recent loss of Hansen, Dogtown will need a new leader as he has business interests in it and that Bennett who worked under him is next in line. The problem is, that the accountant, Jago, is ambitious and is looking to take the spot for himself. Mr. Hands wants you to put Jago back in his place with the help of a behavioral implant, Aguilar who is a well-known Cuban assassin that has a huge reputation.

(1 of 2) Mr. Hands can be found at the Heavy Hearts Club which is the pyramid building near the Golden Pacific Fast Travel.

Meet Jago

Jago has a meeting with the Voodoo boys near Terra Cognita. The nearest Fast Travel is Terra Cognita, but you can just drive there as it isn’t too far away. When you get there, head into the dingy apartment room, sit on the bed, and activate the behavioral imprint. Exit the room, and head over to the containers to your left, you’ll only see the Voodoo Boys at first as Jago hasn’t arrived yet.

Walk over and speak to them, and you’ll have a choice to make. Either ask them to talk, or politely ask them to leave, both of which will result in a fight. In this battle, you’ll play as Aguilar who has a boatload of health, fast health regeneration, and quick movement, but you can’t use an inhaler or your quickhacks. This can be a tricky battle as you’ll face off against six Voodoo boys, so make sure you use the nearby environment as cover (cars, containers, etc.) and if your health gets low, get away, and wait for it to replenish. It should go without saying, but headshots are king for this fight as Aguilar’s revolver deals poison damage on a headshot.

Once you’ve dealt with them, lean on the nearby rock and wait for Jago to arrive. When Jago approaches you, he’ll ask who you are. You can tell him anything, and he’ll soon realize who you are, but the second dialogue option is more fun, so choose that. Shortly after, Jago will ask what will happen now. Pick whatever you feel, as you’ll need to shoot poor Charlie regardless of what you select which shows Jago how serious you are. He’ll agree to back down, but before doing so, he’ll tell you about what Bennett is getting up to, and it involves Arasaka. If you tell him to leave, you will miss out on some content, so ask him if he has proof, and he’ll tell you what you need to know.

(1 of 6) Jago is near the Terra Cognita Fast Travel.

Call Mr.Hands or Visit Bennett?

If you told Jago to politely go, you won’t have any other option than to call Mr. Hands. However, if you got Jago to tell you about Bennett, you’ll have an optional objective to check out what Bennett is up to. Calling Mr. Hands will once again rule this objective out, so don’t bother calling him right now.

Meet Bennett Before Kurt Hansen’s Wake

Now, you’ll need to make a long trek over to the Downtown City Center as that is where Bennett will be. Make your way to the Terra Cognita Fast Travel and select the Skyline and Republic Fast Travel which will place you right outside the objective. If you’re starting Phantom Liberty from the menu, you most likely won’t have been here yet and if that is the case, the nearest Fast Travel will be Afterlife. Fortunately, you can “borrow” an Outlaw car outside the club which will get you there quickly.

When you reach the alley where the objective is, head in, sit on the tire to your left, and activate Aguilar. Time will fast-forward, and you’ll see Bennett’s car pull up, but only his driver is inside. Johnny will suggest you take care of the driver while you can, so walk behind him, grab him, and throw him in the nearby dumpster, then wait in the car for Bennett.

Shortly after, Bennett will get into the car while talking about Arasaka. It appears Jago wasn’t lying. When you turn around, you can ask Bennett about his meeting, both of these choices will result in the same outcome, so say what you want, and he’ll blame Jago for it all. Now, the next choice is the difference between a boss fight with Bennett or not. If you select “You will forget about Arasaka”, Bennett will get out, and a boss battle will ensue. However, if you decide on “What if Jago isn’t a problem?”, he’ll agree to stop working with Arasaka.

(1 of 4) Bennett is near the Skyline and Republic Fast Travel to Downtown.

How to Defeat Bennett

Select the top option for fun as you’ll still be able to choose Bennett as the successor afterward, and prepare yourself for a difficult boss battle. Bennett will get out of the car, if you get out of the car straight away, Bennett will throw a flash bang at you which will start the fight. On the other hand, if you let him leave, he’ll head back into the building, and the result will be the same. This can be a difficult battle due to Bennett being quick, and strong in melee, and on top of that, you can’t heal yourself due to you being Aguilar.

There’s no easy way to beat him, so make sure you dash away from him when he closes in for a melee attack, and use his car as cover to avoid some of his bullets. As you’ll be using the Mancinella Revolver, aim for the head as it’ll poison him. A nice tip for this battle is to jump on the car and shoot at him as he can’t get you with his melee attacks while you’re up there. This will make him start shooting at you, and when that happens, get on the floor and use the car for cover. You can repeat this to make things a little easier. Bring Bennett’s health to approximately 30%, and the battle will end leaving Bennett apologizing profusely.

(1 of 3) The top option can lead to a boss fight with Bennett while the bottom will keep him happy.

Jago or Bennett?

After defeating Bennett, head over to him on the floor, and you’ll have the choice to tell him to do as you say, or Jago will take the lead. This choice does have ramifications, and you can let Jago take the spot, the question is, should you? In our eyes, Bennett is Kurt 2.0, yet Jago is smart and will do as he’s told. The problem is, that choosing Jago makes Mr. Hands unhappy, and you’ll get a worse reward when the mission ends, reducing the credits from 10,000 to 6,000. Outside of the reduced credits and upsetting Mr. Hands, there isn’t much difference, but you will get a bonus of 8,000 credits as a retainer from Jago bringing the total up to 14,000. In short, here is what you’ll get:

  • Jago as Dogtown Leader - 14,000 credits (6,000 from Hands, 8,000 from Jago), but Mr. Hands will be upset with you although this won’t impact any other quests.

  • Bennett as Dogtown Leader - 10,000 credits (all from Hands), and Mr. Hands will be happy with the way things ended up.

Go to the Black Sapphire - Attend Kurt Hansen’s Wake

You’re not done yet. Regardless of the way you’ve handled the previous objectives, you’ll still need to call Mr. Hands and the dialogue will change depending on how it went down with Bennett, but he’ll still send you to the Black Sapphire to attend the wake. Aguilar has free passage there, so they’ll let you in with open arms. Fast Travel to Golden Pacific, follow the road northeast, enter the compound, and proceed towards Black Sapphire. Before you head into the building, you’ll need to change into Aguilar one last time.

(1 of 4) Switch into the imprint under the scaffolding. Then head to the Black Sapphire.

Head into the scaffolding area where Johnny is standing and use your imprint. Now, head to the front door of the Black Sapphire, and make your way to the back of the room where the elevator is. Select the top floor, Club and Casino, and wait for it to reach the top. Exit the elevator, go up the stairs, and head into the room opposite you, to the left. At the bottom of the stairs, you’ll find Jago. Tell him you want to see Bennett then follow him to Kurt’s coffin where you’ll discuss the future of Dogtown. Here is where you’ll solidify your choice as Jago being leader if you told Bennett this earlier otherwise, Bennett will demand some stuff from Jago due to trusting him.

(1 of 3) Choose either of the bottom two options.

Now, if you don’t threaten him with your gun, or agree to his terms, he will shoot Jago in the face. However, if you do threaten him, he’ll begrudgingly accept it. Likewise, if you select Jago as leader, Bennett will demand Terra Cognita, and the same choice will appear with the same consequences. Regardless of what you choose, leave Black Sapphire, and make sure you loot the containers to the right of the door before exiting for some nice loot. Once you’ve left the building, call up Mr. Hands and explain what’s happened and his response will change depending on your choices. This will end the mission.
