From the entrance to Wela Volcano Park on Route 7, head north-east towards the barricade in front of the tunnel passage. Before you can reach there, a mysterious man comes along to invite you to his island paradise, known as Poké Pelago. Somehow, Charizard knows where to find these islands, even if we’re not sure where they are!

Having cleared the Fire-type trial, approach the barricade and it’ll be taken down. Thus allowing you access to the tunnel connecting this route with the next.

Pokemon Encounters - Dividing Peaks Tunnel

Name Type(s) Location (Rate)
Kecleon Normal Shadows by the side of the tunnel (100%)
Wimpod Bug/Water Chasing Wimpod (100%)

For some reason, since Sun and Moon, they made the tunnel between Route 7 and Route 8 into a fully-fledged location. We say “fully-fledged”, but it’s literally a straight tunnel with nary a point of interest. Why they didn’t, for example, develop the Golf Course at the Hano Grand Resort, we’ll never know.

As you proceed through the tunnel, you’ll bump into your unlikely friends, the Ultra Recon Squad. But they’re not here to battle this time. After exiting the tunnel, if you return, you can encounter wild Pokémon as shadows along the left and right side of the tunnel. If there are no shadows, you’ll find scurrying Wimpod near the north instead.
