Pokémon Encounters - Base of Mount Lanakila

Name Type(s) Location (Rate)
"Snorunt" IconSnorunt Ice Grass patches near stair lift (30%)
"Vulpix" IconVulpix (Alolan) Ice [Ultra Sun] Grass patches near stair lift (30%)
"Sandshrew" IconSandshrew (Alolan) Ice/Steel [Ultra Moon] Grass patches near stair lift (30%)
"Absol" IconAbsol Dark Grass patches near stair lift (20%)
"Gumshoos" IconGumshoos Normal [Day] Grass patches near stair lift (20%)
"Raticate" IconRaticate (Alolan) Dark/Normal [Night] Grass patches near stair lift (20%)

This is Alola’s tallest mountain and the place where the Pokémon League is being built as we speak. However, before you’ve completed the island challenge, you won’t be able to advance up the snowy mountain itself. That said, you can run around in the tall grass in the south-east corner to try and find some snowy inhabitants.

Now all of these Pokémon are also found towards the end of Tapu Village, so this little area isn’t actually that special. The only difference is that you won’t encounter "Pelipper" IconPelipper, which can be useful if you’re trying to train Fire, Fighting or Steel-types. In addition, there’s a chance of hail, which can be annoying.
