By
Scott Peers

The Carved in Stone side quest in Final Fantasy XVI can be started once you reach the Cloak and Dagger main quest. You need to speak with an NPC named Milos the Antiquarian, who can be found on the upper levels of "Tabor" iconTabor. He’ll ask you to inspect three carved stones which contain information that you need to remember so that you can inform him later. There are multiple choices involved here so you need to be sure that you select the correct lines.

How to Start the Carved in Stone Side Quest in Final Fantasy 16

You will find Milos the Antiquarian on the upper levels of the village of Tabor in "The Dhalmekian Republic" iconThe Dhalmekian Republic, on its southeastern side. He’s an elderly scholar sitting on a wooden box. When you speak with him he’ll tell you that he can’t move the way he used to, but that he desperately wants to investigate the history of Tabor.

Where to Find the Carved Stones Under the Domed Pavilions in Tabor

Fortunately, the history of the village has been documented in three main phases, each of which are marked on carved stones. The stones are located beneath domed pavilions on the upper levels of the village, so you can find them easily by looking for these domes. Just continue walking through the upper levels of the village opposite Milos to find them.

This may seem like an overly simple quest, since everything you need is nearby, but the trick is that you need to actually remember information from each of the stones, then relay that information back to Milos at the end.

Correct Answers for the South, North, and East Carved Stone Inscriptions

If you paid attention to what was written on the stones, and you have a good memory, you shouldn’t have much trouble with getting the answers right when Milos asks about what each of the carved stones revealed. However, if you didn’t realize that you had to memorize the information and you want to make sure that you get the correct answer for each, you can see them listed below.

Answer - What Was Written on the Stone to the South?

“Guardians of the crystal, the first stones of Tabor. Sacred hold thy noble blood, till ends the Mothers’ labor.”

Answer - What Was Written on the Stone to the North?

“Wanderers of the golden plains, lay your roots in stone. With pride recall thy noble past, and make these rocks a home.”

Answer - What Was Written on the Stone to the East?

“Children of the hunters, now tillers of the land. Reap her promised blessing, and give praise her gracious hand.”

Once you’ve told Milos each of the answers from the stones, he’ll thank you for your help and you’ll receive 460 level XP, 1000 "Gil" iconGil, and 20 Renown. You’ll also get a "Goblin Coin" iconGoblin Coin as a material reward. If you want to see the answers played out fully in video form, be sure to check the video below!
