How to Unlock the I Am the Thunder Trophy in FF16

By
Scott Peers

The I Am the Thunder trophy in Final Fantasy 16 can be unlocked when you acquire the "Eikon" iconEikon abilities associated with "Ramuh" iconRamuh, which occurs during the "Cid the Outlaw" iconCid the Outlaw main quest. At this point you’ll gain access to the "Blind Justice" iconBlind Justice ability, which you need to use 50 times in combat to unlock the trophy. This is a fairly easy one, but we’ll show you how to get it done as quickly as possible.

How to Use the Blind Justice Eikon Ability in FFXVI

The Blind Justice ability can be a little confusing to adjust to once you acquire it, since the mechanics are a bit different to those of the "Phoenix Shift" iconPhoenix Shift and "Deadly Embrace" iconDeadly Embrace default Eikon abilities that you will have used so far. Both of these allow Clive to get closer to an enemy in some way, so they’re more movement abilities as opposed to attacks. On the other hand, the Blind Justice ability is more of an attack, but it doesn’t inflict much damage on its own. Instead, it will amplify your damage output if you use it correctly, especially against multiple enemies.

There are two main ways that you can use Blind Justice, either against groups of enemies or a single target. You will notice that upon using the ability by pressing DualSense-ButtonCircle, Clive will fly into the air and remain there while a counter increases from zero to six. Each number represents the casting of one ball of lightning, and you need to execute 50 to unlock the I Am the Thunder trophy. You can end the amount of lightning balls cast prematurely if you press DualSense-ButtonCircle again while Clive is in the air, which you may have to do if you’re about to be hit by an enemy.

You’ll gain access to !Blind Justice as the default !Ramuh !Eikon ability.

As you’re casting the balls of lightning with Blind Justice, you can switch between different targets using DualSense-Stick-L to move, and DualSense-Stick-R to aim at different targets. If you’re using it against just one enemy, you can cast all six of the lightning balls on it at once. You can then hit the enemy or group of enemies with any regular attack or Eikon ability, which will deal extra damage. As you might expect, you’ll inflict more extra damage if you cast all six lightning balls, rather than just a couple, but the risk of being hit increases the longer you’re casting.

For the purposes of the I Am the Thunder trophy, all you need to do is cast 50 lightning balls. You can’t do this against enemies in the Hall of Virtue, since any progress towards most trophies doesn’t work there, so you’ll need to use it against enemies in the open world or during quests. If you focus on casting this as often as possible whenever you encounter a new group of enemies, you should unlock this trophy quickly. You can then stop using it if you’d rather use a different default Eikon ability.

(1 of 2) You can target up to six enemies with !Blind Justice, or cast it six times on one enemy.
