How to Reach The Belltower in The Crystalline Dominion

After the cutscene where the group leaves the inn, you will be traversing the Crystalline Dominion in the middle of a civil war. You will bounce between high ground and following the roads to reach "Goetz" iconGoetz at the bell tower in the middle of town. Your first task is to use the ladder in front of you to climb to the top of the tower; this will give you a better look at the destruction plaguing the city. After this, you will make your way onto the streets where your first fight with a group of Dragoon Knights will begin. Another group of Dragoon Knights and some Dragoon Astrologers will be waiting up the road - take out the Astrologers first so that they can’t heal and deal with the Knights next. After this a Dragoon Lancer will enter the battlefield: his most powerful attack involves jumping and then slamming into the ground twice so be sure to dodge this to avoid taking a large amount of damage. If you need more help beating the Lancer, then check out our Knight of the Blinding Dawn guide for more tips. Be sure to grab the nearby chest containing, x15 "Wyrrite" iconWyrrite before continuing on.

Up ahead you will be going into the city’s sewers for a bit. Here you will be fighting "Megalocrabs" iconMegalocrabs. Make your way through the passage clearing out enemies as you go and eventually, you will emerge from the sewer system near a dock. Be sure to run over and grab the "Potion" iconPotion so that you can heal yourself before continuing on. At the end of the dock is a small lever. Pull it and Clive will ascend using the pulley system to the city’s next level where, ahead, are some more Dragoons determined to stop you. This time, you will be facing off against Dragoon Knights, and a Dragoon Knight Captain. It’s best to save the Captain for last as he has harder hits and a hefty health bar.

Head under the debris up ahead and you will run into another group of enemies. This time, you will fight Elite War Wyrms along with the Dragoon Knights. These are flying enemies, so use Deathly Embrace or "Phoenix Shift" iconPhoenix Shift to get close and destroy them first. If you don’t, then they will whittle your health down with ranged attacks. After this group is cleared, another Dragoon Knight Captain and an Elite War Aevis will spawn in. Keep out of reach of the Aevis’s attacks and use your Eikonic abilities to defeat him. Follow the path forward but be sure to grab the chest near the ladder containing x10 "Sharp Fang" iconSharp Fang and x10 "Steelsilk" iconSteelsilk and also grab the nearby Potion to heal.

(1 of 7) Defeat the !Dragoons to proceed foward.

Climb down the nearby ladder and you will soon confront more Dragoon enemies; take them out and follow the path on the left. You will now be locked into a fight with Elite War Wyrms, Dragoon Astrologers, and a Dragoon Lancer. Take out the War Wyrms first, then the Astrologers, and finally defeat the Lancer. Head into the room ahead and down the staircase; defeat the Dragoons on your way. There will be a chest here with The Favor of Earth (Raging Fists) - grab it and then go through the doors at the bottom, and you will encounter your first boss fight, the White Dragon.

How to Defeat The White Dragon in Fire in The Sky

The White Dragon is a tougher boss as it is able to move away from you quite easily and has attacks with a lot of range. You will want to keep your distance from the dragon most of the time and watch out for the crystals it shoots out of its mouth. It’s best to let the dragon finish up a round of projectiles and then go in for an attack - don’t overstay your welcome though, as the dragon will do a spin attack to push you back. Shockwaves of ice will also be sent out from time to time covering much of the field. It will also stomp on the ground if you’re close, and once you have knocked off about 1/3 of its health bar, it will use the move Emanation.

During Emanation several crystals will circle the dragon shooting out beams of energy. These are more difficult to dodge, so don’t worry about attacking the White Dragon during this phase, just dodge the beams. On top of these attacks, the dragon can send arrows out from its wings, slam its wings down onto the ground, and dive into Clive from across the field. When this happens a path of ice will appear where the dragon crossed. The Dragon has a second phase where its attacks get more vicious and it even breathes ice breath onto the ground affecting a large radius. On top of this, the dragon can now summon vertical beams that spring up from the ground. Dodging is the main focus of this whole fight.

A later version of Emanation is also present and combines in spheres along with the beams, making it even harder to dodge. This attack is called Dragon Dance and you shouldn’t have to deal with it until you have the White Dragon’s health bar almost to the end.

(1 of 4) The White Dragon is an enemy the requires a lot of precise dodging.

Once you defeat the White Dragon, several cutscenes will play before you are able to move around again. Thanks to the Eikon battle the path ahead has been destroyed; you will be fighting through ruined city streets now. Before you set off, you can speak with Goetz who has a full shop set up for Clive. Stock up on any gear and items you need before going on to the second half of the quest.

How to Reach The Crystalline Heart in The Crystalline Dominion

Once you are ready to journey to the crystal’s heart, speak with Jill. You will need to choose to go forward to start the next leg of the journey. Go into the ruins and through the doors where you will find Akashic Dragoons: there will be Knights, Astrologers, and a Captain. These enemies aren’t really tougher - just take out the Astrologers first, then the Knights, and finally the Captain. In the next set of enemies do the same, but there will be a Lich as well. Take out the rest of the group before taking on the Lich. There’s a small wall you can climb with a chest on top containing The Breath of Lighting (Judgment Bolt); be sure to grab it. Find the nearby wall that you can climb and start making your way up the city. Another cutscene will play before you can move again. Soon you will encounter Revenants, which are once again easy enemies to deal with.

Go across the gap up ahead, and ignore the attack Bahamut is shooting: this is merely scene dressing. You will have to deal with some Specters and more Revenants. These are easy to beat, but the Revenants will cast Protect, so be sure to take them out first. There are two waves of enemies here, so make quick work of them and then climb the nearby wall. Here you will find an Undertaker and more Specters. Deal with the smaller enemies first, and then defeat the Undertaker.

(1 of 4) Speak with Jill when you’re ready to travel to the Crystalline Heart.

After this, just follow the short path ahead to go into the fight with the Necrophobe and this will almost immediately be followed by the Bahamut fight. Be sure to grab the chest in the short playable period in between these battles because it has a "Black Blood" iconBlack Blood and x10 "Bloody Hide" iconBloody Hides. After you complete these boss battles, you will be able to go onto the next main story quest, Things Fall Apart.
