Once you get to The Hideaway after A Chance Encounter, you will start to unlock more features in Final Fantasy XVI. The Hideaway is a key location that you will visit more than once, and the center of command for Cid. There are various shops that you can frequent for more items, weapons, and armor. The guide below goes over how to complete fifth main quest, Hide, Hideaway, and set out to The Greatwood.

How to Complete Hide, Hideaway in FF16’s Main Quest¶

The Hideaway is one of the key locations in Final Fantasy XVI and where you will be picking up side quests once you’ve settled into the game. When you first get to the area, Cid will explain that you can meet him in his room to talk more about the mission. You will be allowed to explore as you please before going to meet him, there are even a few NPCs that you can speak with. Once you are done checking things out, head upstairs through the tavern into Cid’s room. It’s here that you will be informed that a Dominant of Fire may have been located in the village of Lostwing.

After some back and forth, Cid will send Clive down to prepare for the mission, and you will quickly see Goetz, the fellow who carried Jill to The Hideaway. Speak with him and he will give you some booze to bribe the blacksmith Blackthorne with. All you need to do is head into Blackthorne’s shop directly in front of you and speak with him. He will give you the option to get a better belt and equip it. Once this is done, a cutscene will play where they bring in an injured brand, speak with Oliver, and then go up the stairs beside you to retrieve the healer Tarja. She will come down and check on the new arrivals.

How To Get Supplies For Clive¶

After this is complete, you simply need to go over to the other stall that’s run by Charon. At first, she will give Clive a hard time about buying items, but Torgal soon warms her heart and you get a new sword along with some supplies. You have to go over to an obelisk to pick up the supplies, and this will activate the Training Grounds. You will have to try it out briefly, but anytime you want to exit just press the Touchpad and choose to end your training.

You will now speak with Cid again, and be able to open the world map, when you’re ready for the next mission, Fanning Embers, choose to go to The Greatwood.
