Final Fantasy XVI

How to Unlock the Eureka Trophy in FF16

By
Scott Peers

The Eureka Trophy is one of the hidden trophies that you can unlock in Final Fantasy XVI. To obtain it, you need to spend at least 36,000 "Gil" iconGil at the Tub & Crown tavern in the Hideaway. However, there’s a simple method that you can use to unlock the trophy without having to spend anything at all, and we’ll tell you how to do it on this page.

Eureka Trophy - Spend 36,000 Gil at the Tub & Crown in FFXVI

The first thing you need to know is where to find the Tub & Crown, if you haven’t already noticed. It’s located in the second manifestation of the Hideaway, which is accessible after completing the Cid the Outlaw main quest. By this time you should already have plenty of Gil to spend, but there’s a way to earn this trophy without having to spend any of it if you prefer.

Make a Manual Save

As you might have guessed, the easiest way to unlock the Eureka trophy without spending any Gil is to first make a manual save in the Hideaway. The plan is to reload this once you’ve earned the trophy, so make sure you don’t overwrite it after you’ve spent the Gil. So long as you have at least 36,000 Gil, you can speak with the barkeep, "Maeve" iconMaeve, and you’ll have two options in terms of how you spend the Gil:

  • Order a drink (500 gil)
  • Buy a round for the hall (10,000 gil)

Obviously, the easiest way to do this is to buy a round for 10,000 Gil three times, then order a drink for yourself twelve times. However, since you don’t need to worry about spending precisely 36,000 Gil because you’ll be reloading an old save after earning the trophy, you can just buy a round for the hall four times to make it quick.

And there you have it. One of the easiest trophies to obtain in Final Fantasy XVI, but well hidden unless you know where to look!
