How to Get to Rosalith Castle

The path to Rosalith Castle is linear, and while you can get turned around in a few spots, it’s easy to manage when you know where to look. Once the quest lets you move freely, push open the first gate. There will be several enemies behind it and a new ability will be revealed. This is Protect and when cast essentially gives an enemy a layer of armor from damage. It can quickly be taken out with abilities, but as long as the caster is still applied they can quickly cast it again. You will want to take out the Stone Scepter, as he will immediately cast Protect, and then focus in on the Stone Scimitars. Once the group is defeated, head up the nearby ladder and press forward until you run into the next group of enemies.

Along with more Stone Scepter’s you will now encounter Republican Battlehounds. There is a second wave of enemies in this fight, so be ready for when they appear. After you are finished, head through the narrow passageway to find more enemies. This time you will be fighting a Stone Headsman along with Stone Scimitars. Stone Headsman have the ability to jump around, so watch their movements to know when to dodge. They also have two annoying moves, Smokescreen, which blurs the screen, and Poison Mist, which will cause Clive to fall to the floor. Be careful of these abilities and defeat the enemies, after this, you will be climbing up another ladder.

Here you will find a chest with 100 Gil and 10x Spools of "Steelsilk" iconSteelsilk. There is also a "Potion" iconPotion lying on the ground. Press ahead through the next gate and another group of enemies will greet you. This time there is a Stone Commandant in their ranks, before you worry about him though, take out the Stone Scepter as they can both heal and cast Protect. Wipe the group out, and use the small wall to climb up to the next level. You will now be outside of Rosalith Castle and find another Potion, be sure to grab the chest containing "High Potion" iconHigh Potion and the Will of Lighting (Pile Drive) outside of the castle gates.

Once you walk inside, there will be a small army of soldiers waiting on you. You will face every type of soldier here, and you will once again want to take out the Stone Scepters first to keep them from applying Protect. Once the soldiers are taken care of, the mini-boss Coeurl will be released.

(1 of 3) Go through the gate, the path forward is linear.

How to Defeat Coeurl and Confront Hugo Kupka

Coeurl is able to use lighting attacks and is a fast enemy with several different powerful attacks. The Coeurl will regularly launch itself toward you and swipe at Clive using its claws. This can be with or without electricity, depending on if it’s charged up or not. It can also shoot balls of electricity at you and has several named moves to watch out for. Whipcrack is one where it uses its tendril as electric whips and then leaps towards you. After you get the Coeurl’s health to halve, it will also enter into a second phase.

The Coeurl will begin to use Electrocharge, an attack that causes lightning strikes around the field, be sure to stay out of the glowing circles to avoid getting hit. During this attack, the Coeurl will begin charging, you need to empty a purple bar as fast as possible or risk being insta-killed. Luckily, when the meter has been depleted the Coeurl will be staggered for a short amount of time. Outside of this larger attack, spikes will also now be dropped on the field that creates lighting out of both sides, this can easily trap Clive inside of a small electric fence, which is frustrating as the Coeurl will attack more aggressively from here on out. Be sure to dodge when you see it going in for an attack, and when you get a moment to get close to it, use your skills to melt through its health bar.

(1 of 5) The Coeurl’s lunge.

Once you’re done, Jill will be captured by Kupka, and after a short cutscene, Clive will be taken to a jail cell. He’s rescued shortly after, and you need only follow the linear castle path back to the courtyard. It’s here that you will fight all the Republican soldier types that you faced throughout the town, plus a new enemy called a Stone Gaoler. Be sure to take out the smaller soldiers first starting with the Stone Scepters, and then move on to the Stone Gaoler. He does have more health and hits hard, but he’s slow and easy to dodge. Once these enemies are defeated, head inside the castle and you will confront Hugo Kupka for the chapter’s final battle. After it’s done you will proceed on to the next chapter, Bolts From Blue.
