Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Best Maushold Tera Raid Build

By
Seren Morgan-Roberts

This page details how get and use a solid Maushold Build in Level 6 Tera Raids and more in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Serving as a Normal-type powerhouse, using our Maushold Build in the right kind of Tera Raid battles will pay off in droves.

Maushold is evolved from Tandemaus.

How to Get a Maushold Build

Maushold is a Normal-type Pokémon. To get one, you’ll need to first catch a Tandemaus, which is a Generation IX Pokémon found near the Pokémon League. In order to evolve a Tandemous into a Maushold, you’ll need to level it up to Lv 25. If the future Maushold Build reaches this level during a battle, you will physically see it evolve. Otherwise, it will evolve without you noticing if it’s in your party or box.

First, grab yourself a Tandemaus!

Maushold Build - Population Bomb

The most important move you’ll need your Maushold Build to know is the normal-type move Population Bomb. Population Bomb is learned at Level 53.

Population Bomb is learned at Lv. 53.

Population Bomb deals a base power of 20, hitting the target up to ten times per use (so 200 power if it lands all hits). Since this Maushold Build is a Normal-type and Population Bomb is a Normal-type move, Maushold will gain STAB using it, so the damage will be boosted by 50% (in other words, 30 power each strike).

Each of Population Bomb’s hits has a separate accuracy check. The accuracy is 90% meaning you should land a lot of strikes, however, if one of the strikes miss, it will cancel the rest of the strikes. In its basest form, this attack doesn’t do a whole ton of damage, but it has a lot of potential!

If you want to use this Maushold Build as a strong Tera Raid Pokémon, you’ll need to equip a held item that plays well with Population Bomb. Additionally, you’ll also want to make sure to unlock Maushold’s hidden ability, Technician. Read on for more information on best held items and how to unlock the Technician ability.

Best Held Items for A Maushold Build and Population Bomb

Your Maushold Build held item should be working to make Population Bomb super strong. Below you’ll find some information on some of the best held items, what they do and where to get them!

Wide Lens

"Wide Lens" iconWide Lens is arguably the best held item for boosting Population Bomb as it will increase the accuracy of each strike from 90% to 99%, meaning that you should almost always hit 10 times.

That said, if you do miss an accuracy check, this means that the rest of the move is cancelled. So even with 99%, there’s still a chance that you could miss your early strikes and miss out on the full 10 hits.

If you crunch the numbers, on average, Wide Lens gives you roughly 9.4 hits.

Wide Lens can be purchased for 20,000 Pokédollars from the "Delibird" IconDelibird Presents store in Levincia.

Loaded Dice and Wide Lens can be purchased from Levincia Delibird Presents.

Loaded Dice

"Loaded Dice" iconLoaded Dice is another option, although not nearly as good as Wide Lens. By having a Maushold build hold Loaded Dice, only one accuracy check is performed (at the beginning, not for every hit) and, if the attack connects, Population Bomb will hit at least four times.

If you do the Maths, on average, Loaded Dice gives you roughly 6.3 hits. This is far less than what Wide Lens would give you!

Loaded Dice can also be purchased for 20,000 Pokédollars from the Delibird Presents store in Levincia.

The Maushold Build Technician Hidden Ability

Your Maushold has two standard abilities in Friend Guard or Cheek Pouch - none of which are particularly good when trying to boost Population Bomb’s damage and strikes. However, the Maushold Build’s Hidden Ability, Technician, increases the power of moves which have a base power of 60 or less by 50%. This will increase each hit from 20 to 30, meaning that if you land 10 strikes with Population Bomb, it’ll have a base power of 300 (450 with STAB).

To get the Technician Ability, you’ll need to obtain "Ability Patch" iconAbility Patches. These are a rare drop only obtained from Level 6 Tera Raids. They aren’t always rewarded from these raids either so you might have to complete one or two of them before you’re able to unlock the Technician Ability.

How to Use A Maushold Build in the Charizard Tera Raid

Our Maushold Build has the ability to be a formidable Tera Raid Pokémon in your party. This includes not only being strong against Level 6 Tera Raids, but also during the timed Level 7 Raids, such as the Black Crystal "Charizard" IconCharizard Tera Raid event on the December 1 to December 4 2022, and December 15 to December 18, 2022. Head over to our guide on the Charizard Tera Raid for more information.

Make sure that you also aim to level up your Maushold to level 90-100 if you’re planning on using it in Level 6 and 7 Raids!

If you have Wide Lens equipped you’ll almost always hit 10 times!
