This page explains how to beat Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise, at the end of Area Zero in Pokémon Violet.

After defeating Professor Turo the first time, they will become desperate and send out the second Miraidon.

Best Strategy for Miraidon, the Guardian of Paradise

Hang on, this is a little unfair!

When the opportunity arises, select “Pokémon” from the menu and go all the way down to the only Pokémon you can use: Miraidon!

Encouraged by you and your friends, your Miraidon will transform into its battle form. Now the real fight begins!

At the start of the fight, the opposing Miraidon’s Hadron Engine ability will trigger, creating "Electric Terrain" iconElectric Terrain. The electricity will boost the Special Attack of the opposing Miraidon and your own Miraidon.

For attacks, we suggest using "Power Gem" iconPower Gem or "Tera Blast" iconTera Blast. They’re not ideal, but Electro Drift–its signature move–deals a pathetic quarter damage to the opposing Miraidon.

Hold back from using Electro Drift.

Power Gem and Tera Blast will take off around 1/10 of the opponent’s health. It’s not a lot, but it’s something. Keep using these attacks for now.

Meanwhile, your opponent can use "Taunt" iconTaunt to stop you using non-attacking moves (namely "Endure" iconEndure), "Charge" iconCharge to boost its Special Defense, Power Gem to deal OK damage and "Hyper Beam" iconHyper Beam for big damage but requires recharging afterwards.

When hit by Hyper Beam, you’ll drop to 1 HP. However, on the next turn, your Miraidon’s Special Attack will rise by 2 stages and the opposing Miraidon will be immobile. If you didn’t use Power Gem or Tera Blast during every turn, use a "Max Potion" iconMax Potion or "Full Restore" iconFull Restore to heal. Otherwise, skip healing and use one of those two moves again.

Miraidon’s days are numbered! Wait, which one?

The next turn, your "Tera Orb" iconTera Orb will gain energy and all of your Miraidon’s stats will increase. Now Terastallize your Miraidon and pick Tera Blast! Your Miraidon should outspeed its opponent and KO it with the Tera-boosted, super-effective damage. Note that if you didn’t use Power Gem or Tera Blast all the time, you may be shy of a KO.

After the Fight

Triumph against the Guardian of Paradise and the curtains will close on the story. After the credits roll, you’ll return to your room in the academy, ready for postgame adventures!
