All Paradox Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for the new Paradox Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet that covers version differences and what they actually are.

What are Paradox Pokémon?

Paradox Pokémon are mysterious creatures that resemble existing Pokémon, depicted in the "Scarlet Book" iconScarlet Book or "Violet Book" iconViolet Book. Paradox Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet are ancient-themed, while Paradox Pokémon in Pokémon Violet are futuristic-themed.

Although Paradox Pokémon are based on existing Pokémon, they are completely unconnected to those Pokémon. For example, Paradox "Donphan" IconDonphan is a separate entity; it does not evolve from "Phanpy" IconPhanpy or a normal Donphan.

All Paradox Pokémon in Scarlet

Great Tusk (Donphan)

Great Tusk

Great Tusk looks like a Donphan with massive tusks, hence its name. It is a Ground and Fighting type. Its Attack and Defense are high, but its special-based stats are poor.

Brute Bonnet (Amoonguss)

Brute Bonnet

Brute Bonnet looks like an "Amoonguss" IconAmoonguss that’s well past its expiry date. It is a Grass and Dark type. It has high Attack and decent defensive stats, but is slow.

Sandy Shocks (Magneton)

Sandy Shocks

Sandy Shocks looks like a "Magneton" IconMagneton walking on stilts. It is an Electric and Ground type. It has high Special Attack and otherwise OK to good stats.

Scream Tail (Jigglypuff)

Scream Tail.

We kind of want to scream after seeing this monstrosity of a "Jigglypuff" IconJigglypuff. Let’s distract ourselves by checking its type: Fairy and Psychic. Nope, maybe studying its stats will help? It has good defensive stats and Speed. That’s enough, we’re out of here!

Flutter Mane (Misdreavus)

Flutter Mane.

Flutter Mane looks like a "Misdreavus" IconMisdreavus who’s decided to let loose. It’s a Ghost and Fairy type. In exchange for poor HP and physical stats, it has excellent special-based stats and Speed.

Slither Wing (Volcarona)

Slither Wing.

Slither Wing resembles a "Volcarona" IconVolcarona whose wings haven’t developed yet. It’s a Bug and Fighting type. It boasts impressive Attack and otherwise decent to good stats.

Roaring Moon (Salamence)

Roaring Moon

Roaring Moon looks a bit like a wilder version of Mega "Salamence" IconSalamence if you blur your eyes. It’s a Dragon and Dark type. It has high Attack and good Speed, but poor Special Attack.

!Iron Treads (Donphan)

!Iron Treads.

Iron Treads looks like a robotic version of Donphan. It’s a Ground and Steel type. It has good physical stats, although lower than Great Tusk, but its Speed is higher.

!Iron Moth (Volcarona)

!Iron Moth.

Iron Moth looks like Volcarona if it was a robot. It’s a Fire and Poison type. It has excellent Special Attack, but poor HP and Defense.

!Iron Hands (Hariyama)

!Iron Hands.

Iron Hands resembles a "Hariyama" IconHariyama, but fully encased in metal. It’s a Fighting and Electric type. It boasts excellent HP and Attack, but poor special-based stats and Speed.

!Iron Jugulis (Hydreigon)

!Iron Jugulis

Iron Jugulis is basically a mecha version of "Hydreigon" IconHydreigon. It’s a Dark and Flying type. Stat-wise, it has great Special Attack and good Speed; everything else is average.

!Iron Thorns (Tyranitar)

!Iron Thorns

Iron Thorns looks like "Tyranitar" IconTyranitar, but… y’know, a robot. It’s a Rock and Electric type. It has high Attack and good HP and Defense; everything else is so-so.

!Iron Bundle (Delibird)

!Iron Bundle

Iron Bundle is a cute robot version of "Delibird" IconDelibird. We wouldn’t mind being visited by one of these contraptions during Christmas. Provided they’re not hiding any lasers or chainsaws, etc. Anyway, it’s an Ice and Water type. It boasts superior Speed and high Defense and Special Attack. But its low HP and Special Defense let it down.

!Iron Valiant (Gallade)

!Iron Valiant

Iron Valiant is essentially "Gallade" IconGallade reimagined as a robot. It’s a Fairy and Fighting type. Has excellent Attack, Special Attack and decent Speed. Its weakness is its low Special Defense.
