This is a guide for the “Rousing Bolearis” standard quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to finding Ethel.
Enter the Colony 4 Council Room to begin this quest.
Losing Ehel has caused Bolearis to sink into a deep funk. Go see how he’s getting on.
How to Start the Rousing Bolearis Standard Quest¶
Progress through the game until you reach Chapter and return to Colony 4 in the Fornis Region, then head up to the Colony 4 Council Room which is located on the second floor of the Feronis. Upon entering the room a cutscene will play out and the quest will begin!
Where To Find Ethel¶
Once you’ve started the quest, head up to the Colony 4 Central Hangar on the 3rd floor, then make your way up the stairs and speak with Bolearis who can be found standing on the Balcony in the Colony 4 Command room. Here you’ll find out that he is struggling with the loss of Ethel and asks if you could do something for him.

He asks Noah and theam if they can take him over to the battlefield where Ethel was defeated, so open up the map from the menu and enter the Pentelas Region, Full Map, then fast travel over to the Engardo Pass Camp Rest Spot. Approach the Ferronis’s and another scene will playout. Here Bolearis will spot a group of Tirkins doing no good near Ethel’s Ferrnois and he seeks to take them down.
These are around Level 39-40 and you should be slightly over that at this point in the story, so you should be able to take down relatively quickly. However, make sure to focus on one of the Tirkins to take them down quicker. Once all the Tirkins have been defeated another scene will play out, then return to the Colony 4 Council Room to bring this quest to a close.
