This is a guide for the “A Difficult Transition” standard quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. How to convince Fox from doing something rash.
How to Start the “A Difficult Transition” Quest
You can begin the “A Difficult Transition” Quest when Chapter 4 rolls in. It may also be necessary to complete other Colony 9 Quests first, such as Lean Times in Colony 9.
When you’re back at Colony 9, look for two Info Fragments related to “Colony 9 Food Issues”.
Info Fragment Locations in Colony 9
|Info Fragment||Map Marker||Location|
|Colony 9 Food Issues (1)||Map Marker||Colony 9 Assembly Square|
|Colony 9 Food Issues (2)||Map Marker||Opposite the Colony 9 Barracks|
After gathering both fragments, Discuss these at a rest area, such as the Colony 9 Barracks or Canteen. This will begin the quest.
How to Complete the “A Difficult Transition” Quest
Step 1. Speak to Camilla at Colony 9
To begin with, pay a visit to Camilla, who runs the Colony 9 Commissary. She’ll mention being worried about Fox.
Step 2: Speak to Fox at Colony 9
Next, check in on Fox and his group, located a short distance south from the Colony 9 Canteen. Turns out Fox is elsewhere–and likely somewhere dangerous.
Step 3: Catch up with Fox at Gura Flava Lowlands
Fast-travel to the Gura Flava Camp, then head north towards the slope that leads to Melnath’s Shoulder. Near the bend, you’ll find Fox. Now, you must carefully choose your words. When prompted, pick the following for the best result:
- “What are you doing here?”
- “This is a dangerous place.”
- “…to help Camilla out?”
In any case, Fox will wisely turn back and this quest will end. But Colony 9’s troubles are still far from over.
