This is a guide for the “Lean Times in Colony 9” standard quest in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. It’ll navigate you through the necessary steps to finding supplies.

Colony 9 faces a supply shortage. Find reusable things on the old battlefields to send back to Camila.
How to Start the Lean Times in Colony 9 Standard Quest¶
Progress through the game until you reach Chapter 3 and unlock the ability to listen collect Info Fragments, indicated with a 
Return to the Aetia Region, Full and teleport over to the Forward Post Camp Rest Spot in Alfeto Valley. From here, and back towards the direction of Colony 9 to begin the Quest and trigger a battle. Complete the Where the Heart Is Quest, then you’ll have access to Colony 9 which means you can gain access to the Off-Seer’s Anguish Standard Quest. Finally, roam around Colony 9 and listen in on all the conversations until you’re given the “Colony 9 Shortages”, then discuss it at the Colony 9 Barracks to unlock this quest.
Where To Find Reusable Supplies in Xenoblade Chronicles 3¶
Once you’ve unlocked the quest you’ll need to find Reusable Supplies from abandoned battlefields, so fast travel to Gura Flava Camp or Gura Flava Lowlands and run around the area picking up items that have a magnifying glass above it.

After you’ve collected five pieces of supplies, leave the area and travel to the Riccalo Pond Landmark. Here you’ll want to repeat the same process and pick up another five items before returning to Colony 9 and giving them to Camila to bring the quest to a close.
