Xenoblade Chronicles 3

Ascension Quest: Invisible Bond

By
Vincent Lau

This is a guide for Segiri’s Ascension Quest “Invisible Bond” in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. This will open the locked door in Dannagh Desert.

After unlocking a Hero, once you’ve reached Rank 10 for their class with one of your characters (excluding the Hero themselves), you can begin their Ascension Quest to unlock Rank 20 for that class.

The conditions for the Ascension Quest can be viewed in the Hero’s profile, under System - Hero Roster. However, some of them are fairly vague and/or have multiple hidden steps.

How to Start the “Invisible Bond” Quest

(1 of 2) If you met all the conditions, a question mark will appear near the serving area.

If you met all the conditions, a question mark will appear near the serving area. (left), This will trigger the Ascension Quest. (right)

For this quest to appear, Sena must be Rank 10 in the Machine Assassin class.

In addition, you must have completed the In Search of a Home Standard Quest, where Colony 0 relocates to Li Garte Prison Camp.

Finally, Segiri must be in your battle party.

If the conditions are met, a quest-related marker will appear north of the Central Cell Canteen, near where food would be served.

How to Complete the “Invisible Bond” Quest

Step 1. Speak to No. 6 in the Prison Camp

After receiving the quest, speak to No. 6 who’s in front of you. The little guy will give Segiri an interesting report…

Step 2. Obtain Mythrice from the Lambda Commissary

Fast-travel to Colony Lambda, a sub-area of the Pentelas Region. There, speak to the Commissary to try and obtain Mythrice, like you did in Segiri’s Hero Quest. Sadly, it seems they’re out of supplies because their transport was attacked.

Step 3. Ask Around Colony Lambda For Clues

To ascertain the details of the attack, head a short distance north and chat to Whitby. Next, head south-east and ask Tonya, south from Clearwater Shelf, for more info.

Step 4. Ask Around Colony 4 For Clues

Apparently Colony Lambda aren’t the only ones affected. Fast-travel to the Colony 4 Ferronis Hatch in the Fornis Region, then go upstairs to the Council Room. Speak to Maxie to learn more about the attacker.

Step 5. Search Dannagh Desert For Clues

(1 of 4) You want to be near Zorza’s Stonehammer.

Now the search begins in earnest. Fast-travel or head to Zorza’s Stonehammer in Dannagh Desert. North-west from there, within the golden quest marker radius, is a Point of Interest. Head over to discover some Levnis wreckage. Segiri will notice some Flame Clock energy that you can follow.

Interact with the energy trace, then follow the energy footprints in a roughly easterly direction. Eventually, you should arrive at a slope going down near the north-east edge of the desert, where a locked metal door is. Perhaps you’ve been here before, but didn’t know how to enter. Segiri will open the way.

Step 6. Explore Ecto Hollow

Beyond the door is a small underground section, Ecto Hollow. It’s inhabited by a few Level 68 enemies, giving you a good idea of what Level you should be.

The area itself is a spiral that travels anti-clockwise, going downwards. About halfway along, there’s a door that leads to a container. At the end of the spiral, is another door that leads to your destination. Beyond is a teary reunion–and also a boss fight!
