Hogwarts Legacy PC Performance Review Issues
From early reports in several PC platform review copies, many reviews have stated the game can feel very unoptimized, choppy, and downright sluggish. Meanwhile, others mention a few technical limitations that sometimes reflect the game’s performance. Here’s a summary of all the Hogwarts Legacy PC Performance issues at launch:
The general consensus of the PC performance issues is generally an FPS issue. It appears the outdoor areas of the game are particularly the worst areas in the game for performance issues. The game seems to like to render lots of things, and, as a result, the population of assets, particles and other fancy bits will cause FPS issues. The PCGamesN review mentioned it used a 3080 to run the game at ultra. While the game was around 80 FPS, there would be dips in specific places that would drop it to 40 FPS in dense towns, or even lower to 20 FPS in other locations.
Meanwhile, other reviewers have states that the game generally has lower FPS, but didn’t specify the machine used in the review and myriad of bugs too. The result was a poorer FPS experience than one would hope.
The good news is that there is going to be a day 1 patch for Hogwarts Legacy. Console versions, and the PC version digital downloads will come with the day 1 patch immediately. Meanwhile, disc copies will get a patch to download when they insert their game into the console. It could mean those bugs in the review build of the game can go away. This will likely increase the performance, but how much so is only rhetorical. When we know more, we will update the story with more details about the Hogwarts Legacy PC issues.
