Tap R2 or
RT to use
Flipendo, a basic damage dealing attack. Wizards can also hold down
R2 or
RT to then use one of the mappable face buttons to execute a further four Spells or Abilities of a Wizards choice. Some Abilities, such as
Ancient Magic abilities, will have a charge meter in the bottom right next to the diamond of mapped spells. Once Wizards have collected enough energy from felled enemies, the selected ability can be used, which is powerful to say the least. This can also be built up more efficiently by mastering Spell combos and racking up that combo meter as much as possible.

How Many Spells In Hogwarts Legacy?
At this early stage in the game we are aware of 31 spells that are available to cast to your wizard.
Some Spells can be temporarily or permanently restricted to their respective battle areas and other areas. For example players who purchased the Deluxe Edition content will be able to use Unforgivable Curses in the Dark Arts Arena before unlocking them in-game. Spells such as Transfigurations can only be used in the Room of Requirement, with other Spells being inaccessible in the area. There’s also one or two spells that can only be accessed by performing certain actions in-game.
