Chapter 5: Yesterday's Scene

Back at Caldisla

After the events at the Holy Pillar, Tiz awakens to find himself in bed in Karl’s inn, back in the kingdom of Caldisla–a situation both he and you experienced at the beginning of the game. Confused Tiz begins to wonder if everything that happened–awakening the four crystals–was all a dream.

Was everything really just a dream? A 40-odd hour dream? Hmm...

At this point, Agnes, Ringabel and Edea appear and it becomes painfully clear that what transpired was no dream. However, there’s definitely something odd going on, as none of the facts seem to add up. In order to find out the truth, Tiz and friends decide to split up and see what they can find out.

In Search of Truth

Now Tiz will be the only one in the party. To begin with, exit town and head for the orange exclamation mark, which points towards Norende Ravine. Just like in the beginning of the game, you’ll have to fight through the Caldislan wildlife with Tiz alone.

Enemy Tips : Be careful as the monsters are tougher than the ones at the beginning of the game and you can easily get a Game Over if you’re not prepared. For starters, the Kobold Slashers love to use Shield Bash to paralyse you, which can be fatal for our lone hero.

If you put on Paralyse Immunity (Ranger) or the Earthing Rod, the battles will start to become manageable, but you’ll need to be smart and Default to build up BP. If necessary, you can disable encounters until you get a full party, avoiding needless headaches!

At the end of Norende Ravine, Tiz will find out the unfortunate truth a second time. Like earlier, Agnes brings comfort to Tiz, before adding herself into his party. With Agnes in tow again, return to Caldisla and seek out your other two companions, marked by the orange exclamation marks inside town.

Ringabel is standing to the east of the inn, like during the start of the game, while Edea is pondering a little ways east from the western cemetery. Together, the group decide to go on another journey to awaken the crystals! Firstly though, head to Karl’s inn to compare your findings.

Another Voyage

During their discussion, a loud noise comes from above and an unexpected visitor steps into the inn–it’s Datz! Apparently it’s not just the four warriors who apparently fell through time, but the whole of Grandship too! With Grandship on your side, you can instantly fly to any of the four crystal temples… So just what are you waiting for?

We've seen people miss the Level 6 magic spells completely; hopefully you won't be like them!

Important : You can now purchase Level 6 magic scrolls from Grandship’s magic store. If you haven’t been inside Grandship since Chapter 3, you need to press the Grandship icon in the map menu while in mid-flight and choose the "Enter Airship" option. To return to the world map, inspect the steering wheel in the bridge.

Note : If you visit Grandship’s tavern, you can speak to the Adventurer’s companion (the fox) to change the names of the four playable characters. This won’t affect the spoken dialogue at all, but otherwise you’re free to carry on adventuring with Bob, Jane, Dr. Evil and Mgrgr if you want.
