Soh Kofi Shrine

This shrine is one of a few shrines that have a Test of Strength type of trial. Similar to the shrine in Kakariko Village, the trial consists of a miniboss fight. In this case however, there is no tutorial.

The Guardian Scout will appear before you equipped with a sword and shield. You must fight it and defeat it, plain and simple. The Guardian Scout has quite a few attacks up its sleeve so let’s go over them briefly.

First, the Guardian Scout can obviously use its sword and shield to slash and hit you. These can be easily dodged using a backflip or side hop to activate Flurry Rush and get in some quick damage. It will also spin its body like a charge attack and then charge at you.

Second, the Guardian Scout can fire lasers from its eye. The first type of laser is more akin to a quick, small missile that will not deal too much damage. It can fire several in succession though, so be prepared to move. The second type of laser is the standard Guardian laser and is much more powerful. You will need to run to avoid it or parry it with your shield.

Finally, the Guardian Scout will sometimes move far away and then begin to fire out a small, thin laser in a circle around it. The circle will gradually get wider and wider, and will create an updraft all around it. Jump and use the Paraglider to ride the updraft, and then shoot it in the eye with an arrow for critical damage. This will also stun it so you can get in more attacks.

(1 of 2) The Guardian Scout will drop whatever weapons and shields it had. You can take them.

Once the Guardian Scout is defeated, the gate will open. Right before the monk, pop open the treasure chest for a Knight’s Bow. Then you can complete the shrine and claim your Spirit Orb.

Note: These Shrines will reset once every Blood Moon. That means there will be another Guardian Scout to fight. These “Test of Strength” Shrines are among the best ways to farm a continuous stream of weapons and shields, as Guardian weapons are great in the battlefield.
