Difficulty Monsters
★★★★☆☆☆☆☆☆ Decayed Guardian x1

This is the first “boss floor” of the Middle Trials, although it’s quite simple once you get over the initial shock. The room itself is one giant abyss, but there are platforms opposite and near the corners.

Strategy

When you enter, your one-and-only foe is directly ahead and above: a stationary Guardian. If you’re daring, glide straight towards it and pull out your bow to trigger bullet-time. Aim for the Guardian’s eye, listening out for the sound of a successful shot. If you hit the eye, the Guardian will be stunned for a while.

(1 of 2) While gliding, shoot the Guardian’s eye to stun it.

While gliding, shoot the Guardian’s eye to stun it. (left), Then keep whacking it with the Lizal Forked Boomerang or another strong weapon. (right)

Otherwise, if you’re the cautious type, glide sideways to avoid the Guardian’s initial laser, then move closer and aim for the eye. Either way, drop down right next to the stunned Guardian. Before it recovers, apply Stasis on it. Then keep smacking it with your strongest weapon, such as the Lizal Forked Boomerang.

If the Guardian recovers, shoot it in the eye again to stun it. Since you’re right next to the Guardian, aiming at its eye should be easy. But if in doubt, feel free to glide away and then trigger bullet-time before shooting. Assuming you have an Attack buff, you may be surprised how quickly the Guardian dies.

(1 of 2) Meanwhile, the quickest way to kill the Guardian…

Meanwhile, the quickest way to kill the Guardian… (left), Is by reflecting its laser with a shield parry. (right)

Alternatively, if you’re really daring, you can shield parry the Guardian’s laser while on a platform to one-shot it. This is the fastest way for sure, but if you miss, your shield will break or, worse, you’ll take heavy damage. Only do this if you’re confident and/or practiced parrying lasers.

Before leaving, go to the top-right and bottom-right corners of the room to smash the crates and obtain many arrows. Also, there’s a chest held by balloons above the bottom-right ledge, with a Knight’s Shield. Plus another chest on a wooden platform near the bottom-left ledge, with a Knight’s Bow, which you can drop using fire arrows or a floating bomb.
