Capture at least one of every fiend on the Thunder Plains.
Nothing beyond what you’d expect from a Cactuar - 10,000 Needles deals 10,000 damage (instant-kill to those without Break HP Limit), and 99,999 Needles deals 99,999 damage (instant-kill no matter what). It will counter all attacks with 10,000 Needles, so if you don’t have Break HP Limit on the attacking character, then they will be KO’ed. There is also a chance that the Cactuar King will do nothing at all on a turn. If it does this twice
Cactuar King has 240 Evasion, which means that your attacks are going to miss a lot. Accuracy isn’t really a factor here, so your hits will have a 25% chance of connecting, no matter what. To improve your chances of connecting with attacks, you can either boost your luck stat or use skills like Aim, Luck or Jinx. You could also use attacks that do not miss at all, but the Cactuar King is immune to all of the elements, plus it has insane Magic Defense, so something like Flare is not really an option.
Auto-Haste and Auto-Phoenix will be very crucial here. Auto-Phoenix will stop you from dying for 99 of the boss’s turns - for that matter, if you plan on fighting this guy, don’t bother healing. 99,999 Needles is too unpredictable for healing to be worthwhile. Overdrives are definitely a good choice for this boss, especially if you equip an Overdrive Mode like Stoic or Comrade.
