How to complete Distant Gaze¶
To begin this quest, go to the Quest menu, then go to the Story sub-menu and then go to the second page. This is where you will find all the Hangout Events in the future. Click on Chongyun and confirm, a popup will now appear and ask if you want to spend two story keys to unlock “Signs of Evil”, confirm that, and you’ll get the first quest. To earn Story Keys, you need to complete eight daily commissions.
What are daily commissions?¶
Daily commissions are the purple quest icon in-game. You get four every day, and they reward you with 250 Adventure EXP for each quest as well as a small amount of Primogems, after eight of these commissions are completed, you’ll receive a story key. The quests themselves are normally short, defeat enemy type quests.

Talk to the child who was looking your way (A curious Gaze)¶
Walk over to Dalong, the small boy standing underneath the canopy and speak to him, he appears to be nervous and apologizes, Chongyun tells him to relax and asks what’s on his mind. Dalong mention that his sister loves food and that the popsicle that Chongyun was eating looked tasty and that his sister loves it when he brings home snacks due to their mother saying they’re too poor. Chongyun says that he’s not sure if he could spare any as he only has two left and that he needs them.
You’ll ask Chongyun what’s wrong, and he’ll tell you and then say…These popsicles are very important to me, and I might need them if we encounter an evil spirit. Without them, I might not be able to control my constitution. This’ll give you the following two choices:
“What if you just give him one of the popsicles?”¶
If you choose this option, head to Path 1-A.
“Since he has a sister, you should probably give him both.”¶
If you choose this option, head to Path 1-B.
Path 1-A¶
Chongyun will tell Dalong that the popsicles are very important to him, but he can spare one of them. Dalong is fine with that, saying, as long as his sister has one, he is very happy, and then he’ll leave. You’ll have a little chat about being an Adventurer and then Chongyun will suggest heading to Wanwen Bookhouse to look for leads. This’ll end the quest and give you the following quest: The Exorcist’s Path which is Branch 2-A, On the Evil Spirits’ Trail on the timeline.
Path 1-B¶
Giving both of his popsicles to the children leaves Chongyun with nothing to suppress his yang energy which leaves him worrisome, he’ll say that he normally gets them from Wanmin Restaurant on special order, not because of the complexity of the dish but because of how busy the restaurant is. You’ll offer to go to the restaurant with him, but he’ll tell you there’s no need! This’ll give you the following choices:
“ I’m a little worried about you.“¶
“I’m concerned about your abundance of yang energy.”¶
“I was the one who convinced you to give away all your popsicles in the first place.”¶
These all lead to the same outcome but he’ll reluctantly agree for you to come with him. This’ll end the quest and give you the following quest: Popsicles and Their Curious Uses which is Branch 2-B, Popsicle Emergency on the timeline.
