The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Best Way to Farm Bomb Flowers in Tears of the Kingdom

By
Jarrod Garripoli

One of the most useful items in the game, especially when you are looking for items to fuse with arrows, is the "Bomb Flower" iconBomb Flower. However, these are not the most common of items, despite them being found just about everywhere in the game.

Where to Find Bomb Flowers in Tears of the Kingdom

Before getting started on the actual method to farming Bomb Flowers, let’s take a minute to talk about where you would normally get them in the game. There are two places where you can actually purchase them, which are Tarrey Town and Gerudo Town. The latter becomes available after you complete the Lightning Temple, so that takes a little bit of work to actually get done. Both places sell them for 40 Rupees a piece, so they’re not going to come cheap, either. Also, the "Bargainer Statue" iconBargainer Statues in the Depths will sell you Bomb Flowers, with them costing 16 "Poe" iconPoes a piece there.

Besides purchasing them, you can also just find them in the wild, although you’re going to have to head inside caves. The only problem with this is that they’re not plentiful inside caves, and you will only get a few here and there, plus you won’t find them in every single cave. Likewise, you can find them while exploring the Depths, but similar to caves, they are not as common as you think. So, you’re either spending a lot of money trying to purchase them, or just sporadically finding them out in the wild.

How to Easily Farm Bomb Flowers in Tears of the Kingdom

Thankfully, there is a way to actually get as many Bomb Flowers as you can imagine in a shorter amount of time. Basically, one of the new additions to Tears of the Kingdom is "Bokoblin" iconBokoblins with baskets on their back. These enemies can sometimes be found in camps, where they will have some kind of item in those baskets, either offensive or something else entirely. You can actually go up to these enemies and steal the items from their baskets, but they only carry like 4-5 of said items before they run out. The idea behind this method is to actually steal them from their hands, as they’re throwing them, without taking any from the basket. The reason this works is because the enemies have an unlimited number of the items, as long as you don’t snatch them from the basket.

To get this method to work, though, you will need a few things. To begin, you will require either the "Bokoblin Mask" iconBokoblin Mask or "Majora's Mask" iconMajora’s Mask. This is so the Bokoblin doesn’t attack you at all, while you’re in thief mode. Another thing you will need is a Homing Cart, and while optional, a Stake also helps out a lot. Lastly, some "Dazzlefruit" iconDazzlefruits will also be needed, simply because it will help to disarm the enemy, should they have a bow equipped. Any other weapon is fine in their hands, but a bow allows them to attack at range, which means they won’t be using their items.

Unfortunately, both of the Bokoblins with Bomb Flowers are on "Battle Talus" iconBattle Talus minibosses, so some preparation will be needed before you actually get everything working. First and foremost, you want to defeat the Battle Talus, so you’re going to need to target the ore node. After defeating it, put on the armor piece mentioned above, and make a manual save here. Reload that save and the Bokoblins should now go back to not attacking you. Locate the one with the bombs and take out all other enemies, leaving the one you want alive. If needed, make another save and reload it to get the Bokoblin back to a passive state.

From there, it’s time to get a !Stake and !Homing Cart out and fuse them together, with the cart being upside down (the treads) on top of the stake. If the Bokoblin has a bow equipped, use a Dazzlefruit to blind it and make the weapon drop. Lastly, for setting up, you want to place the contraption you made in the ground, but far enough away to avoid the blast radius of the bombs. Once you’ve done this all, feel free to make one last manual save, just in case something goes wrong. Use an arrow to activate the cart and the Bokoblin should now start tossing bombs at it. The reason a !Stake is useful here is because if the cart was on the ground, the enemy might run up to melee the thing.

If it’s working as above, you’re all set up and can now get into position to start stealing Bomb Flowers. The idea here is to get close enough to see the button prompt to take the bombs, but only when the enemy has one in its hands. If you see the button prompt otherwise, then you’re too close and you’ll be stealing them out of the basket. Keep moving around until you get the sweet spot, then you can just mash the button to steal the bombs. You can actually go do something else, if you wanted, but it’s good to keep an eye out on the enemy, as they might move slightly here and there. Note that two things can happen here, which is a Blood Moon (respawns the Battle Talus and other enemies), or the cart despawns (it has 30 minute timer).
