Wind Temple Walkthrough - Where to Find The Five Locks

By
Jessica Dillon

Once you climb the skies above Hebra using the Rising Island Chain, you will reach The Legendary Stormwind Ark, better known as the Wind Temple. The Wind Temple tasks you with undoing five locks to release the boss and stop the blizzard that is wreaking havoc on "Rito Village" iconRito Village. Along with "Tulin" iconTulin, Link will need to explore the ship high and low to complete this dungeon. The guide below goes over how to complete the "Wind Temple" iconWind Temple and find all five locks in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom.

All lock location in the Wind Temple.

How To Unlock All Wind Turbine Locks In The Wind Temple in ToTk

After you land on the huge boat, you will be at the Wind Temple. Interact with the Ouroboros statue to give yourself a teleport point and see a cutscene that reveals the cause of the blizzard. One of the six locks will activate, but the other five will still be locked, prompting you to search the three levels of the ship to unlock them.

The five locks are actually wind turbines and can be opened in any order you want, but we recommend starting with the ones directly in front of you after unlocking the temple. Many of the Wind Temple’s rooms don’t connect at all, so you will need to find five different entrances into the interior of the ship to get to all five locks.

Wind Temple Lock 1 - Upper Stern

The first lock can be undone by making your way forward to the three locked doors towards the ship’s stern. Don’t worry about the large door up the stairs in the middle. You can’t open this. Instead, go to your left and use Ultrahand to pull the lever. This will open the gate and reveal a construct with a Flame-emitter Spear, defeat him, and take the polearm. This is useful later on. You will also want to grab the treasure chest down the hall, as it contains

Once you are done in the room, you will want to head out the door and look to your left. There will be an icicle. Use Ultrahand to move it to the lever without a handle directly across from you. You will want to place the small side at the very end of the lever handle and then use Ultrahand to pull. Be careful, as placing the icicle incorrectly will prevent the lever from being able to pull back far enough to open the gate.

Head inside, and you will see a giant wind turbine. You will want to use Tulin’s Gust on it to get it turning and undo the first lock.

Wind Temple Lock 2 - Ships Propeller

For the next lock, head back to the center of the ship and ride the gust up. You will want to fly to the tallest part of the ship and land. You will immediately notice that there are two huge doors here. Equip "Ultrahand" iconUltrahand and pull one of them back to open up the way to the Wind Temple’s propeller.

You will want to jump down using your glider. There is a current, so you will need to open and close your glider constantly. On the south end, a bit above the propeller, is a room that contains the next wind turbine. Activate it with Tulin’s Gust and then look directly across in the propeller room to see a chest. It has a Soldier Blade inside, grab it and teleport back to the start of the Wind Temple.

Wind Temple Lock 3 - Bottom of The Ship

For the next lock, jump off the ship and glide towards the center. Near the bottom, you will see a damaged opening with a Construct inside. Glide over and land. You will want to take out the construct so that you can easily interact with the wind turbine.

Use Gust on the wind turbine and then look towards the left corner of the area to see a treasure chest. You will now want to warp back to the start of the Wind Temple.

(1 of 2) There is a hole at the bottom of the ship, in the center with a wind turbine.

Wind Temple Lock 4 - Left Basement

Facing towards the ship’s stern, you will want to go to the left side of the ship and jump off of the platform closest to the front of the ship. Glide down until you see an opening that has been covered in icicles and land. Be careful, as the side of the ship has canons that will eventually shoot energy at Link. You will want to use a weapon to smash through the icicles and then take a right. Here, you will find a giant windmill. Use "Recall" iconRecall and safely move to the other side of the windmill.

The next room is a bit trickier as it has a gate with a windmill trapped behind it. Go ahead and pull the lever in front of the windmill to open the ship door to the outside. You will now want to equip your bow and look up from this spot. There will be several icicles hanging from the ceiling. Hit them with a regular arrow to get them to the ground. Use Ultrahand to drag the Icicle near the door and use it to connect the two gears, this will cause the set nearest to the gate to spin, and it will open.

Once the gate opens, run inside and use Gust to get the wind turbine going, this will undo the fourth lock. Once again, teleport back to the start of the Wind Temple.

(1 of 4) Smash the icicles with a sturdy weapon or melt them with fire.

Wind Temple Lock 5 - Right Basement

For the final lock, go to the right side of the ship, opposite of the fourth lock. Jump down near the ship’s stern and go in through the opening in the side of the ship. Turn right and deal with the "Keese" iconKeese. Use Gust to make it over the hole safely and defeat the Construct. You will arrive at a room with broken pieces of wall. Look up to see that the room expands upward, and use "Ascend" iconAscend at the back of the room. This will bring you to the second floor.

Once you are on the second floor, follow the hallway on the right, you will see a moveable pole. Grab the nearby broken wall with Ultrahand and attach it at the bottom. You will now want to turn the pole until a bit past when you see the gate open. Give yourself a couple of seconds more of turning, and then open up your menu to use Recall when you are near the ladder that leads to the locked gate. Climb up as the pole is rewinding and rush inside the gate when it opens.

(1 of 4) The entrance is easy to spot from the sky.

Climb up the long ladder to your right, and take out the Construct in front of the wind turbine. Use Gust to undo the last lock, and the gate in front of you will open. Walk back to the Ouroboros Statue and interact with it to unleash the boss, Colgera. You will be able to teleport away from the temple after he appears, so be sure to grab any supplies you may need for your fight.
