You’ll find towers scattered throughout Hyrule, and aside from being striking landmarks that can help you navigate the world (just look out for the four guide lights on the corner - you can spot them from quite a distance!), they’re also useful as fast travel locations and for arguably their primary purpose - unveiling obfuscated map regions. Enter a tower, interact with the terminal, and you’ll be propelled into the sky, from which vantage Link will survey the land around him.
The first tower you claim is a simple, story-driven affair, but later towers are often puzzles, requiring you to figure out how to get inside or where to find a nearby character capable of getting the tower functional again. Since exploring a region before dispelling the fog of war on the map makes it much easier to navigate, you’ll want to seek out towers and complete them before you start exploring a region in earnest. Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower can be found midway between Gerudo Town and the edge of the Gerudo Desert.
Where to find Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Far from where you start on Hyrule, near 
Lookout Landing, you’ll need to head to Gerudo in the southwestern edge of Hyrule. Getting to this tower will likely have to be done in stages, and claiming the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower is a smart step. If you launch into the sky from 
Hyrule Field Skyview Tower and look southwest you should be able to spot Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower in the distance, on some high ground. Ultimately, however, if you follow the quest marker for 
Regional Phenomena you should end up getting funneled towards this tower.

For an early-game character, this can be an arduous tower to reach. If you’re mostly sticking to the roads you’ll eventually hit Tsutsu-um Shrine southwest of the Hyrule Field Skyview Tower, and beyond that you’ll pass over Digdogg Suspension Bridge before reaching Gerudo Canyon Pass. This is where things can get tricky, as you’ll find yourself exposed to unbearable heat during the day and unbearable cold during the night if you don’t have clothes or food to protect you. If you kept the 
Archaic Warm Greaves from 
Great Sky Island, you’ll at least have nighttime to make an attempt at the tower, and if you run out of time, seek shelter in the shade.
After crossing Digdogg Suspension Bridge you’ll reach Gerudo Canyon Pass, and from there you can continue following the road south until it forks, where you’ll need to consider another dilemma - how to reach the cliffs to the west upon which the tower is perched. There’s no one answer - you can ride a serendipitous ensorcelled stone back up and glide towards your destination if you happen to see one land in front of you, or you can take the southern fork and following a winding route into Yarna Valley, then back north up some higher ledges just east of the tower. Climbing the cliffs is rarely the best answer, save for short bursts when necessity demands. Otherwise, there’s numerous platforms built into the canyon walls you can use (with ample abuse of 
Ascend) to gain elevation.
Assuming you approach the tower from the northeast, you should spot a number of elevators that will get you up the last few cliffs, although you’ll have to use 
Ultrahand to shed some weight from the platforms in order to ride up. On one of these elevators just below the tower you’ll find Sawson, who will present you with this tower’s puzzle.

How to Complete Gerudo Canyon Skyview Tower in Tears of the Kingdom¶
Yes, after all that work to reach this tower, you still have the indignity of having to solve a puzzle to complete it. Fortunately, it’s a pretty simple, straight-forward puzzle. Talk to Sawson and he’ll tell you that the tower is broken and so is the elevator he needs to get up and repair it. He’ll spell out what you need to do - weigh down the counterweight to lift him up and he’ll repair the tower for you.
Use a combination of climbing and Ascend to reach the tower (Ascend is finicky, but after climbing atop the short ledge just east of Sawson, you should be able to Ascend to the top), then note the building supplies. Most of it isn’t all that useful for your current needs, and we frankly overthought this on our first attempt, so let’s keep things simple this time: you don’t need fancy platforms or anything, you just need the metal crates. Attach three of them together, then pick them up with Ultrahand and attach them to the metal counterweight on the elevator. This will weigh it down and bring the platform with Sawson up, who will immediately get to work fixing the tower. He’ll even reward you with some 
Chilly Steamed Mushrooms, which provide heat resistance - useful if you plan to launch yourself up via the tower.
Speaking of which, enter the tower, use the terminal, then launch yourself to unveil this section of the 
Gerudo Desert.
