The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

How to Activate Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower

By
Ben Chard

When you first begin your adventure in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, you’ll notice that all of your map is blank, outside of the Great Sky Island you start at. It goes without saying, then, that you’ll need to track down a means to do so, and the Towers scattered all over Hyrule will do just that. This page will tell you how to activate the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower in West Necluda.

Billson can confuse you with his request at this Tower.

Where to Find the Sahasra Slope Skyview Tower

Before you can even think to scan from this Tower, you’ll first need to track it down. As mentioned above, this Tower’s role is to scan the surface and sky of the West Necluda region, this is located to the southeast of Lookout Landing, once you cross the great stream, you’ll know you’re on the right path. Still, it’s much easier to use another Tower, like the one found at Lookout Landing, to get yourself high in the sky and use your scope to pin it, adjusting Link to face the southeast to spot them (look for the light surrounding the Towers).

Be careful once you reach the Tower, nearby is a Battle Talus boss that poses a threat at lower power levels. The good news is, it’s easy to avoid if your only purpose here is to activate the Tower and uncover the map.

You will need to head into the cave a little to the northwest of the Tower.

Once you reach the doors of the Tower, try as you might, they’re not budging. Speak to Billson nearby, who mentions that he’s here to fix the terminal but he can’t seem to get the doors open. He’ll then drop a little hint, but one that may end up confusing you more than it should do. He’ll mention that there’s a cave down the bottom of the hill that has tasty mushrooms, prompting you to assume you need to track down said mushroom.

Exploring Sahasra Slope Cave

The cave he mentions is close by, however, and your objective for this Tower is inside there. Head a little to the northwest of the Tower to find the entrance, but make sure you have some useful weapons, including a weapon that can break boulders (such as the hammer type weapons by fusing a sword with a rock).

You’ll be immediately greeted with rocks to smash, so get out your hammer type weapon and begin smashing. Take care not to break them all, however, as just beyond here in the main cavern are a group of deadly enemies and you can make life easier for yourself by hanging back and funneling them through the path you’ve created. Use elemental Arrows by Fusing them with materials like Fire Fruit and you’ll have no issues taking them down.

Pocket their spoils and head into the cave, you’ll spot a chest on the ledge above containing a useful Shield of the Mind’s Eye, a shield boasting a 16 defense rating!

Pay attention to the icon of the Tower on your mini-map and break the rocks in that direction. You’ll find a boulder blocking a cave entrance so use Ultrahand to move it, then go inside and defeat the Bubbulfrog to claim another Gem. In the room just before this, line yourself up with the Tower icon and then use Ascend to arrive inside the Tower.

Once inside the Tower, you’ll spot the cause of the doors not opening, two sticks have been wedged into it either side so grab them both and then open the door to let in Billson, who will now repair the Terminal and allow you to activate it, uncovering more of your map.
