The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

A Crabulous Deal Walkthrough - Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

By
Jarrod Garripoli

Once you deal with all of the sludge in !Zora’s Domain, after beating the !Water Temple during Regional Phenomena, you will be able to free explore the town and log some side quests there. One side quest you will find is A Crabulous Deal, where an NPC asks for some "Bright-Eyed Crab" iconBright-Eyed Crabs. This page will detail where you can find these crabs.

Cleff has an obsession with Bright-Eyed Crabs.

Where to Start A Crabulous Deal in Tears of the Kingdom

You will need to complete the Zora’s portion of "Regional Phenomena" iconRegional Phenomena, which will require you to clear the Water Temple. Once you have done that, head back to Zora’s Domain and check out the general shop there. You will meet an NPC that is running the shop there, named Cleff. Ever since he ate a Bright-Eyed Crab, he has been hooked on them and wants more. In fact, one or two won’t suffice, as he asks you for ten of them in total.

Where to Find Bright-Eyed Crabs in Tears of the Kingdom

Bright-Eyed Crabs are one of many creatures in the game, although being a crab, you may suspect it’s going to be near a beach. The in-game description says that “this crab appears in large numbers when it rains,” so that’s something to keep in the back of your mind. There are a few places where you can find them, such as !Zora’s Domain, Lanayru Wetlands, and the Lanayru Great Spring. For example, on the little islands underneath !Zora’s Domain is one spot to procure some crabs, but this is annoying, since you will be swimming a lot.

If you have completed the Ihen-a Shrine, then you can go to Mipha’s Court and climb the long set of stairs there to find plenty more (they are on the stairs themselves). You can also find them throughout the various caves in the three main areas mentioned above. There is one particularly good spot, though, in the !Lanayru Wetlands, where you might grab a lot of crabs. There is an island there that has a chasm on it, called Mercay Island (the chasm is Lanayru Wetlands Chasm). To the northwest of it is a beach, which actually has a road visible on your map.

(1 of 4) You can find some whenever you’re climbing the long set of stairs at Mipha Court.

This beach, especially if it’s raining, will have a lot of crabs on it. Note that while the crabs will run away if you get too close, while making a lot of noise, they aren’t particularly fast and you should be able to outrun them, without needing any speed elixirs of any kind. However, it’s much easier to just crouch and sneak up on them, since they will be oblivious to your presence. Once you have the 10 crabs, bring them to Cleff and he will reward you with a "Sapphire" iconSapphire.

This will end the side quest, but you will still be able to hand in more crabs to Cleff, if you want. You will typically be rewarded with gems, like "Opal" iconOpals and more Sapphires, so it might not be worth the trouble, in the long run.
